Some cruise controll systems use the center high mount stop lighy [third brake light] as an input for the cruise control if its not working the cruise wont either. all fault diagnosis would conclude that if everything checks ok then the computer is at fault. but i would dought all checks ok. a skilled mechanic should be able to diagnose the problem in 1.5 hours and that is a generous time alotment.10 hours is extreme. so mabee a second diagnosis should be performed

Testimonial: "I appreciate the feedback. I had a different mechanic tell me that it probably is the switch. My first mechanic swears that the switch is fine with the voltages etc. reading fine. Is there a possibility that he is gettign " false " readings ? The break light works fine ! Thanks ! S Star"

Re: I just would like to know how many bolts/nuts secure... Most cars have two - one to hold unit in place and the other on an arm that you can adjust the position and tighten the belt around the pulley to specs.

Cruise control does not work on 1995 lincoln town car. where do i start troubleshooting?

Cruise Control works on vacuum. I would check all vacuum lines that run to the CC and see if any are cracked and leaking before i did anything else

Cruise control was working until a mechanic fixed my rack and pinion and lower steering column. Now there is no lights except the SAS system light in the dashboard. Th cruise control and horn does not...

The mechanic evidently did something to break the 'spring' that he knows is at fault. and it is specifically related to the area he was working in. If your not going to demand he fix it, then your going to have to have the steering colomb looked at for a loose connector or possibly only a fuse in the fuse box if your lucky.

My 2001 Grand Am won't start. Does it have a fuel shut off switch and where would it be located? Help

An elderly lady in my complex owns a 1995 Olds 88 with approximately 80,000miles on it. The car sits outside 7 months of the year in Ft. Myers from April- Oct. It has been relieable transportation up to now but now has a problem with the Cruise Control. Several mechanics have tried to fix it but have been unsuccessful. After the so called work the owner says the cruise control seems to reengage making her very uneasy.
Question: is it possible to disconnect the cruise control without affecting any other functions of the car?

Cruise control

When my 1999 Cabrio was new the cruise control went out. It took the dealership and along with a VW expert 10 days to find a pinched harness assembly under the battery box.
