Basically we can swap any of the relays as long as they have the same pin configuration

Basically, a relay is used so that a computer can control a small current to SWITCH a large current

however, without know what specifically is wrong I would be giving you a long to-do list to "fix" tail lights

1990 chrysler convertible quit while driving. Checked for gas flow, good checked for spark from coil, none. Replaced coil, still no spark, is there an ignition fuse that could cause the problem?

I am assuming this is the Lebaron model and you have the 2.5 or 3.0 engine, right ?
Do you have power going to the coil, and a ground signal coming from the distributor ? Did you check the asd relay ?

I would like a diagram of the 740 gle 1990 tail light wiring, I cannot seem to get them working correctly

You don't really need a diagram, it's simple. If you open both tail light boxes in the trunk you will see at the connector on the bottom a yellow wire in the first position. That goes to the brake bulb. If both tail lights do not work, make sure you are getting power to the driver side light first, if it is not getting power, the passenger side will not work either, they are in line with each other. If it is only the passenger side not working, the bridging wire could be bad.. try jumping it. Also, make sure you are getting power inside the tail light bulb holder. The metal connections can come loose. If there is no power to the driver side tail light it could be the bulb failure relay, that is the round red relay in the rear left side of the fuse box behind the ash tray/ cigarette lighter below the radio in front of the shifter. You should be getting power to the third brake light in the rear window...that is a different circuit and will not be affected. Try changing out the bulb failure relay, it supplies the power to the tail lights.

I need diagrams for the fuse boxes in the dash and engine compartment so I can find the fuse/relay I need to replace. My dash lights, tail lights and windsheild wipers are out.

Hi
There are a couple of wiring diagram and manual available on the net. The relay you are talking about is the park lamp relay which supplies power to the tail lamps, license plate lights and both front and rear park lamps. If the park and plate lights are working the light switch, relay and supply power are good. You need to verify for a broken brown wire to the tail lamps (assuming the sockets, lamps and grounds on both tail lights are good) .If none of the lamps are working then the 15A fuse number 3, the light switch or the park lamp relay could be bad (note different contact in the main light switch work the other lights)

You can find a wiring diagram and component location at
www.autozone.com and http://www.pdfgeni.com/book/1998-ford-ranger-wiring-diagram-pdf.html

Let us know if you want something more else accept the solution.

I need to know what fuse or relay is for the running lights ??????

Hi.

Check the tail lights. If the tail lights are OK, then check only the fuse.

If the tail lights are off , replace also the relay.

The relay is located in the engine compartment, in the box on one side.

The fuse is in the same box in US model , but in Canadian model you need to look in the box at the front.

Need headlight wirning diagram

In the case of headlamps and tail lamps, The switch supplies the current through a relay.Relays tend to fail when set up too long. The relays should be under the hood. The ligt switch cannot handle the current load required and could be damaged by overheating if wired direct to lights. Look for the relayThe dead fuses should be identifie near or at their location if not under the cover if so equiped. Food luck. Remember, each lap has its own grounf, including the relay. So, your batt eng ground and engine to body grounds are very important.
