Question about 1997 Volkswagen Golf

2 Answers

My 1997 VW POLO CLASSIC has a new fuel pump installed. But it seems the performance of my car is not efficient, it has low power acceleration. My mechanic diagnosed the problem that my car's "computer box" is not working as expected. Please , anybody could inform me it the diagnosed is correct.

It is possible if there are codes in the ECU(computer)
which leads you to that conclusion.
And it's hard to tell you if your mechanic right or wrong without having the car for diagnostics.
There are many other causes for engine to loose power.

I'm assuming this is a gasoline engine. First check for vacuum leaks or possible cracks and the intake system. Second checked the ignition system. If the engine runs smooth and is not missing and may not be the ignition system. Scan the computer for codes this could be helpful. Just remember computers usually don't go out. Most likely it could be a sensor, throttle position sensor, mass air sensor, or oxygen sensor. Also check for bad grounds. Good luck.

My vw polo classic 2000 model is burning out the fuel pump what can be the cause

It seems you have a blocked fuel line from the tank to the pump, the fuel pump is cooled by the fuel flowing through it. Check if your fuel filter isn't blocked

VW Polo Classic, fuel efficiency problem

Has the car been serviced recently?
If not I would suggest getting it done. Not sure if you have diesel or petrol, but oil can thicken causing more load on the motor and airfilters get blocked and can cause a rich fuel mixture.

If petrol you can take out the plugs to check if they are a light brown colour, if very dark or black you need to check and adjust carb/injection settings/filter.Need to know what engine it is really.

Vw polo 1995 has problem starting. when running its fine but think fuel starvation could be the problem as when key is turned engine only seems to bump the car when accelorator in epressed any ideas....

Several things to attack here... use a gauge to check fuel pressure at the injector manifold... should be 80 psi i believe... also check the fuel pump relay it may not be working right in the "start" position... (yes it's actually two relays in one... one for "start" and one for "run"... test this by attaching a light or meter at the pump terminals (under the car, right rear) if it doesn't light right up (or show battery voltage) when key is turned the problem is definitely electrical... if pressure is low, first replace the filters, if still low then suspect the pump(s). oh did I mention there are two pumps? One is called the transfer pump (in the tank) the other is the high pressure pump. Rule out the high pressure pump before suspecting the transfer pump.
Hope this helps...;-)

VW Polo Classic 1997 IDLE Problems

Hello, VW polos 1.0, 1.4. 1.6, suffer from carbon bulid up in the throttle bodys causing bad idling, esp the Bosch Mono-Motronic (Throttle Body Injection systems), a good clean with carb cleaner should repair the problem, also engine temp sensor replacement and idle speed control valve replacement can help idle problems.
