Question about 1995 Buick LeSabre

2 Answers

The car will occasionally cut off on me while driving. It would also drain the battery quickly and I must test the car every few days. I checked with AutoZone and they are not even sure as to what to make of it. The engine light and a few other assorted light remain solid from time to time.

Try this. First, make sure AC, Radio etc that uses the battery is turn off before turning off the engine, then turn off the engine properly, also the steering wheel lock before going inside your house. I was instructed by my husband to turn off everything before alighting from the car as this is the reason why batteries are easily discharge.

You have the battery and the alternator and the alternator belt and if they are working fine there must be something that is draining the battery. You need an auto electrician to check what the drain is. In such cases,on various vehicles, the BCM, body control module, proves to have something to do with it. Get A GOOD AUTO ELECTRICIAN to check if there is a particular component

Mitsubishi Diamante 2002 - slow battery drain when not running.

This problem may be a drain or a bad battery or alternator.

The first thing to do before going on trying to find the system that is draining the battery would be to have the battery tested and charging system tested.

A weak battery will seem ok after the car is jumped or will barely start the car and the alternator will charge it even though the alternator is overworking due to weak battery and during the day or when car does not sit long it will seem ok. then when car sits overnight or a few days battery will weaken on its own, making it look like a drain,

so first step is battery test and alternator/charging system test.

Electrical problems with 2006 Nissan maxima

I would start with checking the computer for trouble codes.
Sounds like a bad connection in the dash wiring or key switch, but the trouble code might steer you in the right direction.

I recently purchased a 1998 Camry. It was fine for a few days. I let it sit without driving it for 2 days and it needed a jump start. Today, I jumped it again and 2 hours later it won't start. I checked...

There very will could be a battery drain, but what I would do first, is go to any auto parts, where they will do a battery test for free, could have a bad cell in the battery and not holding a charge.

Battery keeps draining

if your battery died while driving and the car cut off while your driving,, your problem is from your alternator!!!,, on a normal working car, you can start, remove ther battery terminals and the car would still run cause the alternator will be powering the car. In your case the alternator isnt working and the car was working on battery power therefore when the battery went dead the car cut off.. Your alternator need \s to be charging between 13.5 and 14.2 volts.. as little as 10 volts will keep the vehicle running.. I'd suggest you have the alternator replaced.

Battery, alternator and starter tested good, charged battery for 20 min able to drive for 1 day and now its completely dead what could it be?

A few possibilities..
A battery can test fine and still be bad.. Especially the "no maintenence" batteries that have no cell caps.. I have seen it happen many times.. Car batteries usually last around 3 years..
Could be a bad connection at battery terminal,, Maybe corroded battery cables.. This would cause it to not charge properly..
Could be a drain.. A drain is something drawing power from the battery even when the car if off.. Can be very very hard to find..
After car is off for a few hours - check all the relays and fuses to see if any are warm or hot.. If you find one - that could indicate where the drain is coming from..

Please dont forget to rate well ;o)
