Question about 1996 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

I have a 1996 Explorer Limited, so it came with the internal phone system stock. The phone in the center console had been removed before I owned the car, but my stereo sometimes doesn't work as it beeps and displays "phone". How can I disconnect the phone system as a whole?

  • Jeremy Pernar Jun 06, 2010

that phone wiring may have to still be pwred up or have another circuit running through it just cutting it off my not solve the problem one of those wires at the phone point may have to go to ground so the vehicle/radio knows that there is no phone

Removing sliding hatch in the center console.

You can remove the dash fairly easily. There are a few screws (check by the peddles and open the doors and look there for screws). The rest of the dash just literally pops off. Once that is off you should be able to get to the ashtray/inside the dash to locate said item.

Program a fob for a 1996 honda civic ex

If you still have the factory keyless entry for your civic, the stock radio is still located within the car. Most likely it is located behind the center console. There is a button on the radio between the AM/FM and CD buttons. Turn the ignition on without starting the car, hold the button down and push any button on the fob to program the fob.
