STOP DRIVING look after yourself check the fluid in the master cylinder its on the firewall and will have a large round booster thing behind it if its low your leaking brake fluid if its full you have air in the system or the brake fluid has gone off and when hot doesnt work Check for leaks renew brake fluid and bleed air out remember always start a brake bleed from the furthest point from the master cylinder

Brake pedal goes to floor after fixing leak in line and bleeding brakes


neither is bad. The proportioning valve is kicked and they can sometimes be a bear to re center. Here's the best way I've had success doing that. Before you try opening up any more bleeder screws you, 1)top off the brake fluid reservoir, 2) slowly pump the brake pedal, not all the way to the floor and without the engine running but with the key on, about 20 to 30 times. After you do that you very quickly hit the brake pedal very hard but not all the way to the floor. The repeated slow pumping of the pedal will very slowly put pressure into the line, even if it's air it will compress a little at a time and when you jab the pedal that one time at the end it will re-center the valve. Now here's the key. If the brake light is on it should shut off when that valve centers itself. That's when you must bleed the air out but whoever you have helping you tell them not to push the pedal all the way to the floor again or the valve will pop again. Open the bleeder to the caliper that had the blown line and then have them push slowly down on the pedal only half way to the floor and then stop pushing and hold position til you tighten the bleed screw. After you close the bleeder screw they can let up and do it again. If he pushes it to the floor and you hear a click that means the valve kicked again and you need to start over. Time consuming, yes but it works. I hope this makes sense. Sometimes it's hard to relay what I do to words on paper,.

Sometimes it wont come out of park. Its a automatic on the floor


check the start safety switch ,, ( push on the brake a few times that should allow the car to be shifted, ) if not,, check the switch located at the top of the brake pedal ( some are combined switches, one that controls the brake lights and one thats a safety switch for shifting, or it could be just one switch that combines this process

Check the brake pedal's suspension; you should find the brake light switch there and it has either failed or its mounting bracket needs to be adjusted.

What are the proper steps to bleeding your brakes on a 1990 vw golf deisel


For left hand drive vehicles: (If the car does not have ABS system you do not need any diagnostic equipment!)

IMPORTANT NOTE: You need using diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car in order to bleed the ABS block. Follow instructions by scantool equipment for bleeding the ABS block.


1. This bleeding procedure requires two people. Remove the brake system reservoir cap, and fill up with new brake fluid until "MAX" level is reached.
2. Lift the car, or use a channel for access under vehicle.
3. Put the gearbox in "N" - Neutral position, or in "P" - Parking position for automatic transmission.
4. Start the engine and push the brake pedal firmly for 4 - 5 times to the floor, and maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor.
5. Begin with the rear right wheel. Another person remove the dust cap and loose the brake caliper bleeding screw until the brake pedal goes to the floor. At this moment maintain the brake pedal pushed to the floor, engine idling, and tight the brake caliper bleeding screw. Use a plastic hose: one end connected to the brake caliper bleeding screw, and another end inside a recovery bottle for used brake fluid.
6. Repeat steps no.#4 and no.#5 until no air flows through the brake caliper bleeding screw. Tight the brake caliper bleeding screw, and put the dust cap in their place.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All the time check the brake fluid level in the brake system reservoir, and fill up if necessary!

17. Test the car brake system. The brake pedal movement no more than 1/3 of total stroke until the floor, when brake pedal is applied. Maximum admissible is 1/2 of total stroke.

you must have a leak in your brakes! check your brake fluid! They may work for now but after all your brake fluid is pushed out they wont work. You better take a look underneath and get someone to press on the brakes to see where it is leaking out. You can keep toping up the brake fluid and that might get you by for a while.

My 1997 jetta 2.0 clutch stuck to floor while driving and now it wont take any gears


It is probably the clutch slave cylender, leaking fluid, add brake fluid and bleed the system and check for leaks then replace whatever is leaking, sometimes it leaks onto the floor of the car under the pedal.

No pressure in the brakes


a leak in your brake line, or something. a leaking (bad) brake master cylinder. check to see if brake fluid is low, then find the leak. if it's the master cylinder, change it then bleed the brakes.
