It does not matter as long as they are connected,except the one going to the distributor,it needs to go to a vacuum supply,that only has vacuum upon acceleration.

Where does the hose. top-front of carb connect to ?

It probably broke off from a Tee fitting. Three hoses connect at one junction point. After it breaks off, you will only see two hoses that look like a single hose, but with a plastic connector holding them together. Also at that junction point, you will have a hole in the plastic connector, where the hose that came off the carb belongs. This broken Tee fitting creates a vacuum leak. Purchase a new Tee fitting, disconnect the old part, then install the new one.

Hi It is almost impossible to get my 86 1.6L Nova to start after being shut off for several hours (overnight) I put a new fuel pump & filter on which didn't help then put an electric pump on. Still...

Under hood fuel lines, touching coolant or heater hoses.
Fuel lines under vehicle close to or not shielded from exhaust pipe, converter, muffler. Fuel lines pinched or crushed.
Fuel filter changed recently.
Fuel pump pressure. Fuel pressure regulator & Fuel pressure sensor.

The age of your vehicle also guarantee's a vacuum leak. It may sound silly but the truth is rubber grommets, and hose's shrink and dry out over time and the harsh environment under the hood makes it worse. Check all vacuum lines and fittings attached to the intake manifold, valve covers (pcv valve), and be sure to check for a vacuum fitting on top of the intake just behind the throttle body. Does it fit tight in the hole? You can seal loose fittings with a high-temp RTV (Red) silicone sealant/adhesive. Several small leaks add up and your engine, heat/AC, and transmission will be all to glad to tell you about it.

Aside from that, if you are still having problems, Have a look at the MAP & Oxygen sensors. Finally, you may end up replacing the TBI throttle body assembly.

Chevy 4.3 v6 edelbrock performer carb and hei distributor with vacuum advance. Which port on the carb do I connect the vacuum advance to? And where do the fuel lines hook up? Got the crank breather/pcv and...

Not sure which design carb you have but here's a rule that works for all carbs. Attach the vacuum advance hose to any port coming from the carb baseplate (bottom). If you don't have a free one, you can use a "T" in another line or if there's a fitting on the manifold you could use that as well. Just make sure that the line has full vacuum at idle. (check with a vacuum gauge or just put your finger over it and feel for vacuum) Since it's pretty old, it would be good to put your finger under the advance mechanism when you attach the line (running) and make sure the small rod that goes into the distributor moves when you do that. if it does not, then the advance diaphragm is bad and you will need to replace it. Use small rubber plugs to block off any unused ports.
As for the fuel line. You should have a threaded inlet on the fuel bowl. The line attaches there. If you need to make a line, you can get one from any parts house, cut it to length and use rubber fuel hose to join it together with the one already on the fuel pump. When running new line, keep it away from exhaust manifolds, belts and pulleys. Best to put an in-line filter in the hose....that will keep the carb clean. If it's a four barrel (doubtful for that engine) you would need a fuel rail that joins both carb inlets to the single line from the pump.

How to hook up vacuum lines for holley 600 cfm

When attaching vacuum lines, you need to remember only one thing. Mark each hose when you remove it from the original carb (quadrajet?) Hoses that attach to the baseplate are at full vacuum and should be returned to a similar location or to the manifold, using a "tree". Hoses that are connected to the body of the original carb only see vacuum when the throttle is opened. Those can be attached to the fitting on the right side of the front metering block. Most Holley carbs have no provision for the valve located at the front of early Q jets (bowl purge) nor do they have any electrical connections except for the choke mechanism.
The most important vaccuum line is the one for your power brakes. Make sure that one is firmly connected either to the rear of the carb baseplate or the manifold. All other lines are nowhere as critical as that one is..

I have a 82 k10 with a 350ci and dart aluminum heads and intake its a dart II intake with a 750 edlebrock carb i need to know the vacume hose set up for those caponits a diagram for this would be great

Find a vacuum "tree" (fitting with several connections that will screw right into the manifold). You can feed the distributor and the A/C dash controls from that. There should also be a fitting on the rear of the carb baseplate you can attach the power brake booster to (if needed) Make sure you cap off the vacuum port on the passenger side of the front metering block. It's "ported" vacuum and you don't really need it. Same goes for the port under the passenger right side front of the carb... block it off or connect that to the distributor instead of using the tree. I use that one for vacuum gauge attachment for tuning the carb. On a modified engine, about the only other item you may want to hook up is a pcv valve. That can be attached on a "t" to the hose for the brake but generally better to attach it directly to a fitting on the manifold. If you don't use a pcv, make sure that the valve covers are vented (I use Chrysler can type vents, commonly found on older 318's and 340"s) The remainder of the emission system can be scrapped unless you're compelled by law to keep it. On a modified system, it's pretty much useless anyhow.
I hope you also installed a good set of headers and a decent cam in there. It would be a shame to waste the potential of those heads. Only thing I don't totally agree with is the 750 carb. You'd probably do better with a 650 with vacuum secondaries. It doesn't sound as impressive but the 750 is a bit large unless you have the cam to make it work. (but probably too radical for the street)

Check engine light came on and is giving codes P0171,P0106,P0172,P2188, P2187. What do these mean?

check for a broken vacuum hose or vacuum fitting(s). you can use a can of spray carb cleaner. while running the engine use the spray to test hoses and fittings. give a little squirt to suspected areas. The idle speed will change when you find a vacuum leak. pay particular attention to the hose to the MAP sensor. There may be a problem with the elelctrical connection to the map sensor, or the sensor itself may be bad.

I have a 84 GMC with a 305 ,I getting gas in the vacuum tube going to the vacuum modulator on the tranny .Main vacuum source is from the base of carb ,Should I run my vacuum for tranny from the intake like...

does the truck have a Th-350 tranny......either way the hose should not be connected to the a t from the pcv valve..that should take care of the issue..if not let me know.

Injected or carb? If all emissions stuff is removed are you replacing it or just making stuff work? If usst making everything work, you need a hose from carb to vacuum advance on dist (if you have one) You can try putting the line above the throttle plate or below it and see which best suits your needs.. There is a large hose that goes to the brake power booster from the back of the carb (if power brakes, Another line goes to the vacuum system under the dash (makes heater controls operate) That line can go to a fitting on the manifold or any other full time vacuum connection on the carb base. All other connections can be blocked off.

I have a vacuum leak in my 2004 ram w/ hemi, how do i fix it without spending too much money

First of all you need to locate exactly where the leak is. If its just a hose, vacuum line, or fitting then it's simply a matter of replacing or repairing the hose, line, or fitting. Other leaks such as the plenum or the intake manifold require R&R of the component and replacing the gasket(s). But first find out where the leak is. Visually check every hose and fittng to make sure they are not disconevcted, loose, cracked, or split. Running the engine and spraying carb cleaner around the hoses and joints will help to locate the leak. The engine RPM will pick up when it draws the carb cleaner into the leak. Spray sparingly and directed at a spot. Hoseing it down will not pin point the leak. Work close and purposely. Be very carefull around a hot engine. Carb cleaner is very flammable. Have an extinguisher ready just in case.

I think your engine has a vacuum leak, check all of your hoses, and carb fittings.
If your engine cannot get enough vacuum it will not be able to draw enough fuel to run.
