The only way to really know for sure if the cylinder heads are cracked is to remove them, and have them mag-na-fluxed at a machine shop.

Some cracks might be obviously visible as soon as you remove the cylinder heads, but they can also be almost invisible and usually behind the valve face so the valves have to be removed to properly check the cylinder heads for any cracks. If the cylinder heads are not cracked you should have them machined/shaved so that the sealing surface is not warped and will properly seal the head gaskets.

Most of the time the heads will have to come off to see what has actually happened.

Incorrect torque values on head, other damage like cracked block, head is cracked, gasket is damaged. Lots or possibilities . Did you replace the head bolts? On most vehicles the head bolts are not reusable.

I dont know if I have a blown head gasket or cracked block

The only way to know for sure is to pull the head and look at the head gasket. You would also need to have the head checked for cracks by a machine shop.

Hey Baptized,
You need to replace ALL the gaskets that seal coolant from ANYTHING... You may have a cracked head, cracked intake manifold,, or at worse a cracked block - between the coolant passages and the combustion chamber area...If you have a aluminum intake and cast iron heads.. this is a potential leak creator when the engine gets hot and cold quickly...make sure ALL the gasket surfaces are CLEAN.. and use:

DO NOT use silicone sealant - period!

Would like to know how to determine if I need to replace my cylinder head or if it is the gaskets, I got white smoke coming from exahust and going through antifreeze

Hi, we are never sure if the problem is the gasket or a cracked head until the head is removed and pressure tested for a crack. Oftentimes, we remove the head carefully to preserve the gasket as much as possible so that we can inspect the gasket for leaks. If it is obvious that the gasket was leaking based on visual observation of breaks in the gasket, then we may skip the pressure test and just replace the gasket; however, there is no way of knowing until the head is off the engine.

Blowing anitfreeze out the tailpipe. I know this means a head gasket. When the engine runs, it blows antifreeze out the passenger side of the engine at the exhaust manifold by the middle cylinder. Does...

could be just head gasket and bad exhaust manifold gasket (coolant leaks past head gasket into exhaust port then leaks out of exhaust manifold gasket)
or it possible that head is cracked too
Only way to know for sure is to remove head and inspect it

Engine was ruuning hot pd 800. to have it repaired 5 days later the head gaskets blew. is that normal?

Head gasket blowing is not normal. Need a clue as to what the 800 bucks went to doing, to know if related or not. If the head gasket fails, just replacing the gasket does not fix the issue, the gasket is a victim. There will be something else wrong, like warpage or cracks. AND this may not be the issue causing the overheating...

Engine is overheating ,radiator is bubbling, and white smoke from my rear head. blown gasket? or cracked head. and what is the best stuff to use to fix blown gaskets

Blown head gaskets for sure, no way of knowing if heads are cracked without taking it apart, there no quick fix for this, only fix is to take it apart and repair as needed.

Head Gasket Issues on 91' Sundance

Need to know engine size. If it is a 2.2 or 2.5 you should not have any trouble finding good used parts if needed. You may find a complete engine in good condition for 2-3 hundred. Call your local wrecker and see what may be available. It might surprise you. Good luck.Moe
