Are you drawing outside air when it won't get cold, or is it set to recirculate ? There was a card on the HVAC when new explaining this, the system only gets really cold when it is set to AC max & recirculate.

Even the Max A/c doesn't get cold enough. After some time, it will get cool and cool off the truck, but there is something wrong because it takes way too long.

It takes a while for it to even cool off.

the temperature at the vents should be approximately 40 degrees F. i have a 2000 f-150 with 195,000 miles. the air conditioner just failed this summer. i suspest a large leak, but haven't had the cashs to fix it. if you have no experience with a/c systems, it's better to have the pro's check it. your high and low side pressure will have to be read and evaluated. the system will have to be checked for leaks. one thing you can try is hosing down the condensor coils. if there is obstruction such as dirt, leaves, bugs, the system will perform poorly. the condensor is located in front of the radiator

A/c blowing hot air with low pressure

The first thing to do would be go to your local auto parts store and buy an air conditioning recharge kit. Provided your vehicle isn't too old, they sell recharge kits that require no tools.

If their is a leak anywhere while you recharge, you will know.

Try recharging the air conditioning first, it is very simple and the kits come with simple instructions.

If there are no leaks, your A\C will blow cold air again. As for the pressure, if it continues to slightly blow air you may be looking at a new air compressor unit or a vaccum line. A new unit will run you anywhere from $200-$2000 dollars plus labor depending on the vehicle.

If the recharge works, at least you will have slightly blowing cold air rather than hot and you can continue that way until the unit fails.

Model 106.74052400 is not cold don't sound like

Are you talking about the interior fan unit?
If so, with it turned on try giving it a light tap with something hard.
If it turns on, then the fan motor is worn and requires replacement.
If it doesn't kick in, then check the power to the fan.
If you don't have power, then check the blower control switch.

When you recharged the unit you may have not put enough oil in with the freon.

2002 trailblazer xlt....the freon is leaking where the lines meet the firewall. Also, the front air blows very good and very cold...but the rear air doesn't work no matter on which setting it is on....

If there is a leak at the firewall and it is the fittings, they have O-rings that seal them and can be replaced. If the leak is from behind that it will need a new Evaporator core. If the vehicle has Rear A/C I have seen the real thermal expansion vale stuck and it will not let the rear get cold. Also low Freon due to leaks will effect the rear first then the front. SO LOW FREON DUE TO THE LEAK AT THE FRONT COULD ALSO MESS UP THE REAR. FIND A GOOD PRICED a/c REPAIR SHOP.

Recharged port air cold but not real cold

You should use a gauge to know if the system is full.
If one side is cool and the other is not, you could have a blend door problem under the dash.

A/c is not blowing real hard

is the velocity of the air not blowing hard, or does it not blow cold air? if the air is not cold, it sounds like you need to have your a/c system recharged.

when an AC gets real hot and there is air in the system you get what is called High Head Pressure and the high pressure switch will not let the clutch engage. Need to have the system evacuated and recharged.

How do I recharge the AC on 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette?

You need to check for leaks first. WalMart sells a kit to recharge your a/c system with R-134a and a stop leak sealer. Make sure your core valve is tight. You'll need a longer valve tool than what you use for your tires. Good luck
