Question about 1997 Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

I have a 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport and the 30 Amp Maxi Fuse in the F6 position in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) blows within seconds of starting the engine which shuts the engine off. There is continuity between the F6 fuse and the PCM and I have replaced the Auto Shutdown Relay with no luck. I cannot fid a diagram thats tells what the F6 fuse position runs.

Just checked a diagram for that year cherokee (likely pretty much the same system) The print is very small and blurred but it looks like F6 powers the fuel pump relay (could be F8 though since it's hard to read) power runs to the switched side of the relay but also branches off to pin A22 on the pcm.

You can get a Haynes '93-'98 Jeep manual ($25) from the auto parts store, in the back you'll find your wiring diagram.

where is fuse located, Green = 30amp
in the cab, no ,no 30amp in cab. so is below.
or in the PCD box under hood,
here is PDC,
here is fuse f15, which i think is HBL
diesel HBL is f15
gas HBL is f11

fuse 11 is 3 up from bottom right. gas only.
fuse 7 is 30amp too in pDC
and runs headlamp controls or DRL, got DRL
fuse 8 diesel? see fuse 7 answer gas.
in canada, they have DRL , daylight running lights.
we dont.
but fuse 7 30a runs that.
PDC fuse 4 30am runs ASD and if blown diesel engine dies.

HBL is fuse 15 or F11

98 jeep put new crank sensor ' coil pickup' and coil ' i have no power to the fuse block on finder no fire to plugs and dont here fuel pump

No power to fuse block? This may be the problem. Check all your maxi fuses in the power distribution block. I think all the maxi fuses are hot at all times-check if they are getting power, and fuses are good.

Also in the power distribution center is fuse F15- a 30amp fuse for fuel pump relay, and fuse F6- a 15amp fuse, also for the fuel pump wiring. Check that both are good, and have power-F15 is hot at all times. F6 is hot in run or start.
This is the 4.0L inline 6, right? That is the engine diagram I have. The coil signal is from the ECU. Does the check engine light come on with key on, so you know the ECU is powered?

92 plymouth voyager wont start and nothing work the windows wont go down the lock and unlock button does nothing idk what the problem is i had the battery tested and the battery is fine what would cause...

Nothing works? How about the headlights, do they work? If yes, then start checking all fuses in the Power Distribution Center or Box under the hood. If no, then look for a bad maxi-fuse in the PDC, and check for a bad fusible link between the battery and the PDC. The battery positive cable goes to the starter, but a pigtail lead off the positive would go to the PDC, to distribute power to all the various circuits on the car.
When you turn the key to on, does the dash light up? If yes, at least power is getting to, and going through the ignition switch. One could then check for power on the starter solenoid wire when key was held in crank or start position.
If nothing when turning key to on-no dash lights, nothing-then check for an ignition fuse in the PDC. If fuse is good check for power being available at the ignition switch connector. If no power there, check wiring between PDC and the ignition switch-if power is up to the switch, but nothing happens with key on, no dash or warning lights, then could have a bad ignition switch.
It just sounds like a maxi-fuse has blown, or a bad fusible link. Good luck.

Which fuse for my jeep wrangler 97 is for the ciggarette lighter?

Hi, the 1997 Wrangler has two fuses to check. Both in the Power Distribution Center (PDC) under the hood. Fuse 3 supplies the accessory circuits through the ignition key and energizes the coil of the accessory relay. If your radio works that fuse is OK. The other fuse, fuse 5 supplies the power to the accessory socket when the relay is energized. The relay is behind the glove box and mounted to a stack of multi-wire connectors.
Replace fuse 3

Had a dead short at pos. bat terminal.. it smoked thats how i found it... fixed it but now no spark and no fuel... what happened??? turns over.. lights are bright but nothin...HELP ME PLEASE

In the power distribution center, black fuse box under the hood next to the battery, there is an "engine" fuse. Controls power from the battery to the computer and engine electrical systems. A battery short would very possibly blow this maxi fuse (30 amp?).

Lighter Fuse location

The fuse is a "Maxi Fuse", 20amp, located in the power distribution center under the hood. Black rectangular box close to the battery.

Were is the fuse for the horn on a 1999 plymouth voyager van

Power Distribution Center (PDC)

Power Distribution Center (PDC) (1997-2000)
chry-06-00-1340.gif

The picture shows the horn relay is the second row down on the left and side of the Power Distribution Center (but the diagram didn't transfer over to fixya.com).
I would use a fuse tester to test the rest of the fuses in the PDC.

I need a diagram for the under hood fuse box. More importantly the specific 20 amp fuse labeled F21. What is it for. I have a 1998 jeep wrangler 4.0 4wd.

Are you sure that this is for 20AMP, according with the repair manual, the position 20 in the Power Distribution Center if for Power Motor ABS Pump, and is 10AMP.

Verify it..

#11 Fuse blows when you try to start Jeep.

What size is the #11 fuse?

My guesstimate is that they are referring to the ignition coil. That is involved in providing high voltage to the spark plugs. If the coil has a short this would blow the fuse.
