Question about 1995 Pontiac Grand Am
My son's Grand AM 2.3L automatic. won't start. It cranks over very fast but doesn't even attempt to fire. I can hear the fuel pump running upon initial turn of the key. I have check the coil pack and I have spark coming out of the coil pack. I removed the air cleaner cover and gave it a shot of ether while cranking it over and it didn't fire either. I have checked all wire conections. I put several napkins in the exhaust pipe and they first **** in then they get blow out after cranking the engine a bit. So it appears the cams are turning over. Now the Story on the problem my son let his girl friend drive it home last Sat nite. and she said it chugged a couple of times and then ran fine the last 5 blocks to her house and she shut it over with the key. No it won't start. Can anybody help me with this.??
Is it poss the engine is flooded with fuel? if you can remove the spark plugs see how wet they are. If wet, replace turn engine over while they are out remove fuel pump fuse and coil pack conector b4 you do this if unable to do this hold the gas pedal down all the way to the floor your vehicle is fuel injected this will create a fuel shut off mode which while held down will not deliver any fuel to the engine as the engine starts to fire and run rough take you foot of the pedal ane nurse it until it runs ok if it runs get your mechanic to check for leaking injectors dripping over night
