Drop trans pan then remove filter and replace make sure old gasket is cleaned off and replaced

I had a transmission service on my 2001 grand cherokee at 35000 miles. it's now at 80000. does it need another transmission service?


just fluid change and a filter should suffice.although I'm sure they will inspect it while the pan is off

Change transmission fluide in 1999 Jeep Cherokee


To change the transmission fluid you drop the transmission pan should be about 16 bolts. Once that is off you will see the filter. Buy the kit from a local auto parts store and look to see what the filter looks like. Check your transmission fluid once you drain to see metallic look in it if so i would suggest a transmission flush.

More than likely you are low on transmission fluid.  Check your fluid level.  The proper way to check it is with the vehicle idling, warm, and on a level surface in park.
