Number one is the right front. 1234, drivers side is 5678 If you pulled it out and didnt make a mark to get it back it right, its a long process. Line it up on TDC and you have a 50% chance of having it right. So take out number 1 spark plug, and have help to spin the the engine over. put your finger over the plug hole, when you feel air pushing your finger out, line up the timing mark to approx 10 degrees ( the balancer has markings, highlight 10 with a white mark, chalk, crayon, liquid paper ect) now put the spark plug wires on. Number 1 should be marked on cap. put wires on, now you will need to get it running and let it get warm, now disconnect tining connector, looks like a little gray plastic piece as big as your thumbnail,(near distributor) take it out and crank up engine and set timing to 10 degrees (your white mark) put connector back in, you are done.

I have power to my coil but none coming out on my 84 351 Windsor brand new distributor coil is good module came on new distributor I need help ?

Since the coil is getting power you need to get a spark tester or pull a cord of one spark plug and lay it on the engine and have some crank the engine. You should see and hear a spark. If not check fuses and check the ignition module - that is the device that tells the the coil to send a spark. You could also remove the wire from the coil to the dist cap and look for a spark.

351 windsor

You can tell by looks or by the VIN number if the engine is original.
The fifth digit could be H or Q. H is for the Windsor engine and Q is for Cleveland. The Windsor looks like an ordinary 289 or 302 engine, the Cleveland is a big head 400 version. I don't think they used a 4bbl Windsor but they did use a 2bbl Cleveland so that is not a good example.

I need the correct firing order diagram for a 1982 ford f150 351 windsor please help at least a link to a site

The firing order is ( 1 - 3 - 7 - 2 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 8 )

The distributor rotor turns COUNTERCLOCKWISE

The marked # 1 position on the distrubutor cap faces to the REAR and slightly towards the drivers side

The engine cylinders / spark plug locations are numbered :

firewall

4 - 8

3 - 7

2 - 6

1 - 5

front

If someone has altered the disstributer, pull #1 plug, put finger over hole, turn engine over until compression on that cyl, line up timing marks (ball park only) and rotor will be pointing at the correct terminal for #1 cylinder plug wire connection, in the cap.

I have a 1965 food falcon with a mustang 302 (1978 ) v8. how do i know if it is a windsor or not?

Well there is a 302 cleveland, they are mainly an Australian engine. Identifying one is much like telling the difference between a 351 windsor and a 351 cleveland. Based on the fact that it's from Ford's 335 engine family. 8 cap screws to hold on the valve covers, the block is longer do to the timing chain housing being integrated. The fuel pump bolts are mounted vertically, and the exhaust bolt holes are diagonal. Also, a big difference between an american 302 and an aussie 302 cleveland, is the connecting rods for the cleveland are 6.000''. Where the american 302 connecting rod length is 5.090". Also, referring to a 302 as a windsor is incorrect, it's block families name is the 90 degree v8. The only engine in that family that is properly named the windsor, is the 351 windsor. The 90 degree family also includes the 302 boss. The boss has cleveland style heads, and the block has screw in freeze plugs.

How do i adjust the valves on a 69 351 windsor motor

The only 351 Windsor with solid lifters is the 351 "R" 4V
1971-1972 Boss 351-HO. All others are hydraulic. To solve noise in hydraulic lifters, replace them and check push rod ends for wear (actually you really should change them, too) but many guys go "cheap charlie" on this.
