Question about 2007 Chrysler Sebring Sedan
Had this happen to me yesterday. Remove the liner in the cup holder. There is a hole that you can stick your finger in to push the gear release lever forward. If that does not work, pull up the chrome bezel around the gear shift. there is a pink piece of plastic attached to a spring, push that down and towards the rear of the car and you should be able to shift freely until you put it in park again. Make sure the car is running and your foot is on the brake while trying either solution.

Ok it is the little pink piece of **** plastic piece under the center console i took mine all apart found the spring and drilled a hole where the hook used to be and fixed it without going to rip off . chrysler for the part, to get it home where i could work on it find where the cable conects to the transmision under the hood pull it off and you can shift into reverse to get it out of the parking spot and drive to get it home need some one in the car to work brake though lol

If you have the owners manual search the table of contents for the shift release button
if you have a floor shifter look there
you may find what looks like a little door
when you pop the door with a little pick and push the pick into to opening you should be able to shift out of park
most of the time the suspect is a defective shift lock solenoid

there is a spring on the left side of the shifter which has probably broken off it a common problem with a no cost fix as long you can find the spring. the spring attachs to the black case of the shifter and the other end goes to a pink plastic pivot to the interlock. drill a small hole in the pink upper pivot to reattach the spring. your spring would have shot off toward the back of the car inside the console check at the carpet's edge.the spring has a green protective band and is about an inch long ---to get the console out 4-- 10mm bolts at rear inside the back console compartment and 2--10mm bolts behind the a/c controls. the a/c control bezel and the upper bezel do not have screws but push in place--top bezel pulls straight out while the lower has to be pulled down and out to remove

shift lock switch. this switch is usually connected to a little box on the brake pedal. Look about half way up the pedal from the foot pad and make sure the wires are still intact.
