2008 Chevy Equinox would not start, turn key and nothing happened, replaced battery, ran just fine for a week. Tried to start one week later it acted like it wanted to start but wouldn't. Had ju

Usually a sign of something draining the battery.
The machine test probably showed the battery could hold a charge and the alternator was charging the battery.
You may need to have someone check for a power drain.
When the key switch is off, there may be a weak short to ground or a relay or component that is using power.

2009 dodge caliber battery draining. Woke up one morning and car wouldn't start. I got a jump ad it started right up. I took the car to advanced auto and they tested alt and starter both were one...

many things could cause this....

something left turned on and plugged in,
weak battery - have it tested
weak/bad alternator - have it tested as well, may not be fully charging battery
could be a bad cable or ground

The battery drains down in 48 hrs. I had a Ford mechanic look at it but he could not find out why it happens to my 1997 lincoln town car. Jim

I will try to help. First, find out if the Cruise Control was recalled for your car. Have a dealer run the Vin#. The bad ones never shut the power off.

Next, rear window defrost switches can short without the light indicator being lit up. This is a hard one to diagnose because it cycles every startup. Also bad ignition switches can leave the ignition on. Its silent and is not visible.

If none of the above, you have 2 ways to test the car.
Use OHMS or VOLTS. With volts you put the meter between 1 battery cable and the battery. You can short out something with this method. I favor the OHMS method, which you disconnect both battery cables and put the meter on the cables.

You will have to pull fuses with either method. Its time consuming but once you write down the fuse placement and size you will eventually disconnect the grounded fuse. Then trace the system, like a bad window switch or trunk pulldown.

1997 Toyota Camry Engine Short Block- took it to the toyota dealer to replace oil pan gasket and valve cover gaskets, and front engine seals. they took for a after repair test drive and the lower block...

they probably didn't put any oil in it after the gaskets were replaced and that caused the problem.if the car was running fine prior to you having it fixed and there was no noise coming from the engine, then that would be my best assumption to your problem.hope this info helps and good luck.take care , manny

1997 Lincoln Towncar. Shifter stuck in park

There is a switch mounted on the arm of the brake pedal (under a plastic cover held on with 3 plastic push-pins). There is an electical connection attached to this switch. In my case one of the wires had broken and was not supplying electricity to the switch. By fixing the broken wire it allowed the shifter to properly move and got the brake lights working again.

On an occasion my Mountaineer will shake and act like it will die

my guess is that there is some thing wrong with your fuel system. Try to put a can of injector cleaner in the tank next fill up. if that does not help it start trouble shooting each injector by unpluging it waiting for the engine to start to run differently (only takes about a second for this to hapen) If it starts to run different with the injector un pluged then the injector is ok if the engine does not run differenty the the injector is bad. Also check for vacume leaks, and test your fuel pump
