You should have your coolant system flushed. not just the radiator. engine and heater core also. if the top hose is pressurized the thermostat is open. and coolant should be flowing. when operating normally the system is typically pressurized to 15 psi. there may be something clogged. like the radiator. what is the condition of the coolant? when was the last time you changed it? when was the last time you had it flushed?

to change the thermostat, remove the thermostat housing. it's on the top hose at the engine. remove the old thermostat and note it's position. replace with new thermostat and replace housing. tighten housing bolts, but don't over tighten.

2002 dodge caravan 4 cylinder. Recently replaced the radiator hoses and water pump, now vehicle is pushing fluid out the resivoir overflow spout. Causing the engine to overheat. What could cause this?

The problem is the coolant isn't circulation through the system. You are getting all the pressure on one side of system and the tank is the only place where the pressure can be released. Is the thermostat good? Is it installed correctly? Check for coolant in the radiator. After vehicle has been running but turned off feel the upper radiator hose is it under pressure and hot. Next feel the bottom hose is it under pressure and cooler than the upper hose. If the upper hose is not under pressure fix thermostat it's not working correctly. If lower hose is not under pressure something is wrong with the radiator

My 2007 Kia spectra got hot due to a leak in bypass hose, I replaced hose and thermostat and now I'm getting a lot of pressure in upper hose, how do I know forsure it can be a cracked head?

suspect that you have put the thermostat in wrong
the body of the thermostat is in the block or head
I suspect that the thermostat was at the bottom hose into the block and that would account for the pressure in the top hose as the thermostat is not opening allowing the coolant to circulate
you can check for a cracked head/ blown head gasket with a compression test

Why is my 2001 cadillac running hot?

With the thermostat out you should see a lot of circulation. If not investigate water pump. Is the fan electric fan working? Bypass the relay and run the fan whenever the engine is running. If it doesn't overheat with the fan running then investigate fan control. make sure the coolant is topped off and use a thermometer in the radiator to verify temperature.

check, temperature of upper radiator hose vs. lower radiator hose, also if there are any cold spots in radiator usaully indicates bad thermostat. all hoses and surface of radiator should be hot in order to keep engine cool

Overheating

Be sure the radiator is full of coolant, Start the engine when cold, while engine is running feel the top radiator hose. As the engine warms up the upper radiator hose will suddenly get hot when the thermostat opens. If the upper hose stays cool, the thermostat may be stuck closed. If thermostat is stuck closed It must be replaced.

Without knowing more about your car, this is all I can recommend.

2000 chevy impala overheats i think its something electric

I doubt its anything electric.
Are you sure the radiator is full of coolant ?
Do both radiator hoses get hot when the thermostat opens at 195 degrees ?
Do both heater hoses get hot after running the engine for 5 min ?

Temp gage reads cold in 1993 camrey

more than likely have a bad thermostat. easiest way to check if that is problem is let the engine run for at least 5-10 min. after that grab the upper radiator hose with your hand. be cautious because if the thermostat is working properly this hose can be very hot. if it does not feel hot and has no pressure inside hose (you can feel like a garden hose: difference between on and off) then you need to replace the thermostat and gasket or seal. if you do have a hot and pressurized hose than you have a bad temperature sending unit. replace the part. good luck!!!

2002 Jetta 1.8T blew 40A cooling fan fuse - overheated, destroyed 4 way cooling hose connector - replaced all- now it still runs very hot, inside temp reads 190 (but temp is much higher), cooling fans run...

Then replace the thermostat, because if on lower hose not hot and on upper hose scalding hot = antifreeze flow blocked by the thermostat wich remains closed!!!
