There is a flaw in the A/C discharge hose that will leak freon. When the pressure drops, the compressor won't kick in due to a low-pressure detection switch. The part was backordered forever, BUT Chrysler just issued a recall on it on 5/28/10.
I had registered my van at dodge.com, and that's where I learned of the recall. Not only do they fix it (mine's working great since the repair last week), but them will reimburse you for expenses incurred while diagnosing it.

Does the car run hot when the a/c is off completely? It sounds like the a/c clutch is locked down. With the a/c off the a/c clutch should still turn, if it does not, then your serpentine belt is riding on the a/c pulley locked down. It will cause the belt to break and to run hot because your water pump and everything else is operated by this one belt.

The compressor in my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4 turns on and off while parked. It blows very cold air while driving, but blows hot and cold air while parked. To hot to sit in the truck while...

the ac system needs air through the condenser ( radiator bit in front of the radiator) to operate correctly. IT it has no air then the compressed gas is to hot and will not turn to liquid and so the high pressure switch turns of the ac compressor. No problem when you are moving as road speed provides the air flow. Get an electric fan and have it installed before the condenser and connect it to the ac compressor circuit so that it is running all the time you have the ac compressor running. not the local mechanic. When dealing with ac systems the best people to take it to is an accredited ac specialist shop

Air conditioner blows hot but freon is full

Your compressor could be faulty. Check to see if it engages when you press the AC button with the car running.

So I recharged my air conditioning cause it was blowing hot air an now it's not blowing as hot but now my a/c light is flashing any ideas anyone?

Your compressor needs replaced. Turn on ac on high then open your Hood and find the compressor. If it turns on and off and repeats, you need to charge it more and you may have a leak. If it turns on and continues to run. You might have a problem with your ac clutch.

A/c on 97 chevy blazer v6 will not stay on unless I hot wire it and then it still blows hot air. what might be the next thing i check or do to find the problem?

It is probably low on freon. The low pressure switch will turn it off to protect the compressor because it needs the freon to circulate the oil. Hot-wiring it defeats the purpose of the low pressure switch and runs the compressor without oil. If you have not already destroyed your compressor by hot-wiring it, you can probably get it working better by charging the system.

A/c compressor not turning on, freon level ok, no power to compressor

Hot wire the compressor from battery and see if it turns on. If it does then there is fault in AC switch/relay/wires. If the compressor still not running then compressor coil is gone, fortunately it can be replaced easily and you need not change the whole compressor.

On third compressor. Had the temperature sensor

With the AC on, the fan will come on to help the ac codensor. Why your compressor keeps crapping out is definately something to look into. If your AC is overcharged the head pressures can get pretty high and if the oil is low, that would not help either.. Good Luck.
