I have a chevrolet malibu 2000 v6.i replaced the tensioner and the belt but it keeps coming off

First make sure that you are putting on the right belt. If the belt doesn't fit all the way down into the slotin ALL the pulleys then either it is the wrong belt or one of the pulleys is the wrong one.

If you have changed out any pulley driven component that would be the first pulley I checked! And it is not easy to find the right pulley without going through several junk yards!

My alternator failed on my Chevy truck and I bought a replacement from AutoZone and gave them my old alternator at the same time. But since that same alternator was used on more than one vehicle it has a different pulley on it. So although everything was tight it would pop the belt off in the first 25 miles of driving it.

If that isn't your problem, stand to the side of the car with the engine running and watch for where the wobble is. Although the tensioner can take up some of the slack if one of the components isn't adjusted right to make the belt tight, it will also throw the belt.

I have a 98 chevy prism. when i turn the lights on the car shuts down. when i turn on the defrost on it jumps like it wants to cut off. We took the whole dash loose and dont see and burnt wires or...

Could be the alternator. When you put a load on it , it will grab the belt harder. To check it , loosen the belt and turn the alternator. it should spin freely. Grab the pulley and turn it slowly , it should be smooth. And there should be no wobble to it. Let me know.

After replacing the alternator belt it is ok for a few months then I find it is breaking in half again, I have replaced a few times, the last with the most expensive one I could and it is breaking agian....

You probably have an aftermarket alternator, Some come with the wrong pulley installed. You cannot swap pulleys because the shaft is different. This is a very common complaint for this car. Find an original equipment alternator off ebay or a junk yard, you'll see the difference on the pulleys...good luck...blueamber... I have owned 6 of these cars

THE BATTERY LIGHT CCAME ON AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER POWER STEERING FLUID IS THERE BELT CANE UNRAVELED NO HOSES APPEAR TO BE LEAKING OR BROKE. HOW DO I PUT THE BELT BACK ON

First check all pulleys for wobble or looseness. If all pulleys are OK, use the below diagram to put the belt on all pulleys except alternator. Put a wrench on tensioner pulley and pull down until the belt will slip onto the alternator pulley. Check that belt is still on all pulleys before starting. If belt comes off again, one of the components is failing (usually an idler, tensioner or water pump wobbling).

Humming noise and wobbling pulley 1995 Corolla

Maybe, you would have to remove the belts and then take a look at all the pulleys, it could be a pulley or a bad waterpump, or even something in the timing belt, like a timing belt pulley or tensioner pulley or waterpump, the best way to find out is to remove all the belts and then start the motor and listen for the noise, if the noise is still there with the belts removed then its something in the timing belt, but is the noise goes away then its something with the belts a pulley or a alternator, you would have to inspect all pulley and the acc, hope this helps,

I can't seem toget my belt around the alternator, aircondition, waterpump

You should have a tensioner pulley somewhere in the belt's path. It will be mounted to the engine but not connected to anything. You need to loosen it and swing it in towards the engine to install the belt. Once the belt is in place, pull the tensioner to the outside and tighten it, but leave some flex in the belt. If the pulley wobbles or whines, you'll need to replace it, too, or it will destroy the new belt.

NOTE: If the belt still won't go on with the tensioner released, the parts guy may have sold you the wrong belt.

Pulleys and driveBelt move freely when engine off, but they dont

sounds to me like the belt is just sliding on the crank pulley. Could be a separated harmonic balancer. Check the big pulley on the bottom.

Belt problem

If the belt has got oil soaked into it could be one reason why it is coming off. Check the belt tensioner. The spring may have become weak or the tensioner bearing is bad and the pulley is wobbling.

If you have A/C, your 95 Toyota Corolla should have three belts. Alternator. A/C. Power steering.
