How to change transmission pressure control solenoid for a 2000 oldsmobile intrigue

Put car on jack stands, Install an engine support, Lower the driver's side engine cradle slightly so you can remove the side cover from the transmission. Then you'll have access to the valve body. It's a big job and not something a DIYer can do very easily.

Where is the speed sensor located on a 2002 oldsmobile intrigue

It is on the outside of the transmission where the speedometer cable used to go in older cars. It has a 2 wire barrel shaped about the size of a Cuban cigar.

The transmission on my 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue had worked perfectly and then I had noted that the transmission only worked in 1st, 2nd, and reverse gears. When I try to put the transmission into drive,...

The transmission fluid, filter, shift solenoid needs to be inspected. That might be causing this problem of transmission not going in drive mode with gas pedal pressed down.------- The transmission needs to be taken apart and inspected, may be solenoid not opening/ closing properly or gears dried up and fluid is required. first inspect the transmission fluid and filter.if fluid is low, get the fluid changed and if filter is dirty, get it replaced.but if problem is same, then transmission needs to be torn out and inspected internally for worn out solenoids and clutch plates and valves.--------- this will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My sons first car he is looking at 1998 oldsmobile intrigue. What is the transmission life expectancy with 168000 if it has been well maintained.

An "intriguing" question, and one with out a real answer, except that if it has been well maintained, then to keep it that way. The transmissions on these GM's are average, like any car ,and can be as good or better than the engine. If there is concern for this, ask for records of transmission filter and fluid changes, which should happen roughly after every 50,000 mi. After purchasing, have the transmission fully flushed to include the torque converter.
