The best fix is a new radiator. The newer radiators that have plastic tanks just don't last as long as the copper ones of years ago. Most radiator shops won't fix plastic and aluminum radiators. and if they do it will cost about the same to fix as a new one will.

My car keeps overheating and leaks water after a few miles. I have put steel seal in but this has not worked. Can you suggest any remedies or what to try next please . It is a Suzuki swift2005 thanks

swift normally comes with coolant system. coolant gets cooled by the radiator and a fan is there for overheating of coolant. check the coolant system and fan. water is never added to a coolant system.

E270 CDI Auto. Gearbox oil contaminated with engine coolant. ( 140,000 miles ) What would be the cheapest remedy ?

You could have 2 issues,Either the radiator has cracked therefore letting transmission fluid into the coolant or the head/head gasket is bad.If the car overheats, blows white smoke from the exhuast id say look at the head,if not it may be the radiator, let me kmow.

How do i fix honda prelude 92 sports transmission fluid leaking in to radiator have put in new radiator and still leaking in?

transmission oil gets into the cooling system by a crack in the cooling coil in the radiator tank. When you say new radiator and it is still leaking oil into the radiator then either the radiator is second hand new or the transmission oil pressure is too high. have a transmission pressure checked before you fit an off the shelf still in the original wrapping new radiator. If the radiator is in good condition and not partially blocked it is possible to replace the tank that has the cooling coil in it. It is essential to properly flush out the engine using the correct detergents ensuring that all the systems are opened.. The next option is an air to air cooler for the transmission which is better than the radiator cooler idea.Costs about the same as a brand new radiator.

Car overheats

There could be many causes for a small leak, including foreign debris, small crack or loose hose. Using just water with no antifreeze can damage your radiator in sub 32 temps so always mix with coolant/antifreeze. One temp solution is buying stop leak from a auto part store, another remedy I've heard work is putting black pepper (finely ground) in your system to stop small leaks and it actually works. Good luck.

My Buick 95 Gran Sport's steaming/had shut down on the freeway

sorry about this, but it appears that 2 types of sealant have blocked your thermostat. You have lost circulation in your cooling system, you will need to reverse flush your full cooling system and have your radiator repaired or replaced. never mix your chemicals in the cooling system because there are 2 particular chemicals used in different products that when combined can blow up (nitro)

I have a 97 nissan maxima that is leaking coolant immediately after i put it in. i have a new radiator and have had the hoses checked and a pressure tests done on the radiator also the heat in the car

if you cant see it leaking, it could just need a coolant system flush to clear anything out that could be clogging it. get it towed to a shop to get it flushed. if you see it leaking, find the source and correct it! look at the drain plug at the bottom corner of the radiator, could be lose which would cause massive amounts of loss because thats where it is emptied for normal maintenance.

1992 volvo 960 radiator leak heater core leak We put Stop Leak but it's still leaking.

leak stop is just a temporary remedy, figure out why its leaking its probably that your radiator core is completely corroded thats why its leaking as well as the heater core. that require a little excercise taking it off, removing the corroded part or pipe and replace. if your radiator is aluminum or plastic that needs complete replacement.

Many auto parts stores carry maintenance and service manuals for the 1987 Ford vehicles. Don't recall seeing a "diagram" of a "cooling system" though. There isn't much to it...a radiator, outlet hose to engine block, inlet hose from engine block to radiator with a thermostat installed. Problems...thermostat can stick, radiator can corrode up, leak in radiator can occur, engine water jacket can rust up. Routine maintenance and antifreeze solution can help keep the radiator working fine.
