How do I do a code check on my rav 4 2003

If the check engine light is on simply drive to your nearest auto parts store and they will perform a free diagnostic. The code can be read with a tool called an On Board Diagnostic Tool, OBD1, 2, or 3 for short. In my area I use Auto Zone, Pep Boys, Napa Auto Parts, and Advance Auto Parts. The connect port is located under the dash board near the steering column. The store will tell you what the code is that's causing you grief. All the best.......

Dodge avenger 2008 codes

You can go to Advance Auto, Auto Zone, or other auto parts stores and they will hook up their OBD diagnostic tool to your car and it will read the codes that are causing you your problem. Then they can tell you what the code means, or at least a general idea of where the problem is. For instance, I had a check engine light on, I took it to Advance Auto, they identified the code and told me it was related to the ignition or a spark problem. He told me in his experience to check the spark plugs and spark plug wires first. It was a cracked spark plug boot that gave me an ignition problem whenever it rained or was damp/humid out. You can also google the actual code once you know it, the auto parts stores will give you a printout after they run the OBD scan tool on your car.

Airbag light stays on

Go to a larger auto parts store, e.g AutoZone, O'Reilly, Advance Auto and ask the counterperson to read the Diagnostic Test Code(s) stored in your car's onboard computer. (This is normally a no-charge service because they want to sell parts to you) The body code(s) which should be in the format Bxxxx, will help identify which airbag sensor or system is at fault (there are many, many airbag code possibilities). The counterperson can then tell you what the code means, and what parts might be required to fix it. If you're not comfortable working on your own car, you may want to take it to a professional for repairs, but at least you'll know in advance what part(s) may be required. Good luck.

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

My check engine light is on for my 2005 mini cooper s...what could b the problem? oil change 3400km just the other day the yellow light with the triangle that has an exclamation mark in the middle and a...

The "Check Engine Light" could be something major, or something as minor as a loose
gasoline filler cap. The only way to know is to find someone who can attach an OBD-II code reader
to your car's ODB-II computer port and talk to your car's on-board computer, and ask it what it thinks
is wrong.
Also, the "Yellow light with the triangle that has an exclamation mark in the middle and a circle going around" could be the SES light (Service Engine Soon), which could mean that everything is fine with the car, except the SES light needed to be reset at the 3400Km oil change, but it wasn't.
In the U.S., Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts are national parts store chains that will read the ODB-II codes setting your "Check Engine" light free - don't know who will do this free in Canada/U.K., though.

Is there a way to check a trouble code light manually without diagnostic tools by using key posistions or holding trip and odometer buttons?

No, you will need an OBDII code reader. The good news is that most Auto Zone stores will check your codes and tell the what they are for free. Don't listen to their advice though: their job is to sell you parts - not diagnose what's wrong with your car. Keep that in mind.

How can i get a list of the fault codes

To get a list of your fault codes you can goto your local Advance Auto or Auto Zone. They have a free service for this, just walk in and say "Could you pull the logged codes from my car for me?" They will grab their scan tool and ask you to lead them to your vehicle, they will need to turn your car to the ON position and plug in their scan tool. After this you will know what codes your cars diagnostics computer has stored and hopefully this will point you in the right direction for repair.

The engine light is on i dont know what it means i checked the oil trans and i dont know what eles

I'd go to an auto parts store that will check for any diagnostic codes free of charge (autozone and advance auto both do) and if you have any codes, list them here and I can tell you their definitions and the most common solutions to fix them in detail if needed

Check Engine light comes on for unknown reason.

You can take your car to auto zone or advanced auto or some other car parts store where they will put it on a computer for nothing to tell you the problem. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate my answer.
