Question about 2001 Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

So every time I turn the air conditioner on my car squeals really loud. I just had my power stearing belt and pump replaced. I really don't know much at all about cars. But I was reading that it could be the fan belt, alternator belt, or the power stearing belt. That maybe one of these belts needs to be replaced. But I'm not even real sure how to to this. Please help!

I think your vehicle has only one belt what you call a serpentine belt ,we call it a fan belt or correa de ventilador ,now either the tensioner for this belt is worn or the AC system is overcharged with gas

What would cause my belt to not spib & squeal realy loud on my 93 Ford mercury topez

If the belt is not turning, there will be a seized pulley. Possible alternator.. power steering.... water pump... tensioner.... idler pulley ... AC compressor seized. The belt will need to be removed and all the pulleys spun by hand to isolate tone that may be seized

I have 1996 Kia Sephia. When the air conditioner is on, the power steering doesn't work about half of the time and the car makes a squealing noise when turning, starting, and sometimes when idling....

Loose belt-tighten or worn idler pulley bearings.Tighten belts first and if the squeel is still there remove belt and check all pulley bearings.Grab the pulley by hand and give it a wriggle-there shouldn't be any play axially

My 2003 Kia Sorento squeals really loudly and for several seconds when I start it the first time every day, and also squeals when I turn the AC on. Just wondering what the problem is.

Sounds like you have either a loose, worn or streched fan/serpentine belt. The lost likely reason you don't hear it all the time is the fact that there is not as much of a pull on it. When you first start the car your alternator will demand more out of it and the same goes for your air conditioner compressor when you turn it on. I would check the belt to see if it has any cracks or if it is loose. I hope this helps you and good luck.

2002 hyundai elantra power stearing pump replaced. Loud squeal and chatter when stearing left or right. HELP

was the p/s system bleed of air properly before running the new pump. wheels should be off the ground and the fluid reservoir full then wheels turned from left to right all the way and top of fluid as needed. then start engine and continue to cut left and right. fluid aeration will cause premature pump failure and noise. also ensure that no other parts are restricted, i have seen faulty valves in the rack or lines cause restrictions in the flow and cause the pump to fail even new ones. hope this will help you

When I start my car it squeals really loud and smells like a vaccuum belt is burning. it also overheats while sitting still unless the air conditioner is on and now won't pass emissions. what could be...

Your squeal sounds like you have a pulley frozen, or sticking, that the belt can't turn, and it will burn. You need to determine which pulley or idler pulley it is.
The cooling problem may be related (water pump) , or just a failing fan switch, or fan. See if you have two, as some vehicles have one, and a second for air conditioning.

Squealing noise

check all pulleys. and also, check the air conditioner compressor. it may need to be serviced. the compressor can make a squealing noise at times if the bearings are bad. make sure the tension is correct as well.
