Some times the simplest answer is the best. Don't let your gas get below 1/4 tank. You shouldn't run your tank that low anyhow since you will start sucking up sediment shortening the life of the fuel pump and engine. When a car is very low on gas stopping, starting and cornering quickly makes the gas slosh up the side of the tank and out from under the fuel pickup. So the car sucks air into the fuel lines and the car stalls. By the time it stalls the fuel has moved back under the pick up and thus the car will restart.

Car shuts of suddenly while driving. Starts back up after 20 minutes.

When the gas-cap is plugged, you build up vacuum in the gas- tank and cause the gas flow to stop.
Use premium gas only, ETHANOL in the mix is attracting moisture/water which is part of the problems.

Try pouring a 8oz bottle of regular alcohol into the gas tank, into about a 1/4 tank of fuel and take out on the high way and open it up ( floor the gas pedal and open up the pistons and let the alcohol clean the heads and this probably will solve your problem!

WHAT CAUSE A MERCURY VILLAGER TO BOG GOING UP A HILL

when the tank gets low on fuel(under 1/4) or less.. the pump, which uses the gas to keep cool, will get hot and start to cavitate(run at slower speeds and cause a severe fuel pressure surge)..the engine will respond accordingly..most will do this as the system gets older..to avoid it and possible premature pump failure, keep the tank at least 1/4 fll..

Only when i have a 1/4 of gas left my truck shuts down but it will start right back up when i come to a stop if i try to floor it backfires and loses power

Hi, The only thing i can think of is if the suction in the tank has rusted or coroded causing holes to form in it, which would then cause air to be drawn in when the fuel level isbelow where the holes are. Therefore when the fuel is above these holes you would have no problems.
I hope this will help you

that is normall for a car left standing, you should always start a car at least once a fortnight and run it till hot.try putting redexe in the tank, full can to 1/2 tank gas, then drive it for about 30 mins.it is best to fill a tank with gas if storing it(less air to contaminate it...)new cars in compounds awaiting sale are started weekly and rolled forwards 1/4 turn of wheel.to stop flat spot on tyres...

In my opinion it is caused by having too little gas in the tank. You are not suppose to run it it with that little gas anyways because it is bad for your car since all the contaminants can be sucked into the injectors and cause all kinds of problem.

check all of the vaccum lines and the one behind the throttle body also try some STP gas treatment and if this helps replace your fuel filter also make sure you have at less a half tank of gas before you add the STP.

Car won't start

Your fuel pump is sticking and not pumping, this is common if you run the fuel down to less than 1/4 full, the fuel pump needs the gas to cool itself, below a 1/4 tank the pump is not getting cooled and after repeatably running low on fuel it overheats and fails. Running the car near 1/2 tank extends the pump life to many years more than running tank below a 1/4 full..

its the electrical connection at he fuel pump,if this is ok ask if they replaced the strainer on your fuel pump, your fuel pump is inside your gas tank ,you have to drop the tank to service, most fuel pumps are not warrantied if you dont change the strainer, when your car shuts off the sediment on the strainer falls back into the tank, but when you run your car and it sucks up the gas thru the strainer to the pump it clogs the strainer and the fuel pump cant pump, you shoiuld find out if they changed this because your forcing your fuel pump to work harder, was it a new fuel tank or used one that they put in
