Under the hood you will find a relay center ,the relay for your abs is bad.the way it effects the braking system is (now that the abs light is on )when you slam on the brakes your truck will skid to a stop, the abs system prevents the skidding, you will feel the brake pedal pulsate until stopped.

  • Turn the ignition to the "on" position (the second position) on the ignition.
  • Open your Explorer's hood and loosen the retaining nut on the negative battery cable clamp using a socket wrench and a 10 millimeter socket.
  • Slide the clamp off the negative battery terminal and wait three to five minutes.
  • Reconnect the cable clamp and tighten the retaining nut.
  • Check the dash to verify that the ABS light has gone out. This process also resets all trouble codes in the Explorer's PC, so all other warning lights will reset as well.

    Abs light off turn

Dpending on the vehicle make and model ( always good to give that info when asking for help on a vehicle repair) , the ABS system actually performs a self-test everytime the ignition switch is turned on and if there is no faults present within the system the ABS light will illuminate and then go off. If ,however , there are faults with in the system the ABS module will set a trouble code for the circuit at fault and then the ABS light will come on and stay on until the key has been turned off and recycled to the on position. If the problem still exists then the light will act just as it did the first time and stay on. If the system passes, then the light will come on during self-test and then go off upon passing self-test. The only other way that a light will come on and go back off on its on is on some models when an intermittent fault is detected.
But to answer your question, the only way to get the light to go off and stay off is to repair the cause of the light coming on (repairing the fault in the system). You will need to have access to a code reader that can access ABS systems or take it to a trusted repair facility and have the system diagnosed to determine direstion of repair.
    Hope this helps

    Service lights wont shut off

My first question would be - have you had the engine computer and the body computer scanned ?
The traction control and ABS are handled by a body computer and a basic code reader may not access that computer.
As you say there has to be a problem to make all three warning lights come on.

If the light is on , DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's are stored . These would point to a fix . Your best bet , take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop .

How do you reset the Service light on 2006 BMW 325 xi, it stated service was due for brake fluid flush, we did that but the service indicator is still on

Hi , to reset the service light you will need to insert the key and turn the ignition lights on but do not start the engine. you will see a push button on the lower left side of the instrument panel press and hold this until you have a triangle appear which then turns to the brake warning symbol , release the push button then press and hold the bc button in the indicator arm until reset appears , release and again press and hold the bc button until you have a moving clock symbol appear , release the bc button and wait for the display to change , once this has reset turn off the ignition and the service symbol should have reset . you may want to print these instructions before resetting , regards Mark.

1999 Alero anti lock brake light

u can have the light scanned by autozone free of charge. Also in new york state the anti lock system is not part of inspection and can not be a failable issue. Ofcourse your state may be differant. Also the abs light will not turn on for brake pads.. Most common on the olds alero is a bad wheel bearing. The abs sensor is built into all the wheel bearings. The code that u can get out of the car will even tell you what wheel it is that is causing he light to come on. Unless ofcourse its not a wheel bearing and its a internal abs system issue. Let me know what the code is and I will try to get you a pinpoint place to look....
