Likely your fan relay has burned closed. The relay is usually found below and behind the r/f headlamp above the vacuum reservoir. (looking from under the vehicle.)...I know, really great place for it! Someday I'd like to meet the engineer that decided to put it there!

Where is fuse 40 amp for radiator fan 2003 jeep grand cherokee

it should be in the engine compartment in the relay/breaker box

2003 Jeep Grand Cheeroke radiator fan runs when car is off draining battery. Could it be the relay? If yes is the relay in the fuse/relay box under the hood or under the passenger headlight?

After checking the conventional relays and fuses, we found an additional auxiliary cooling fan relay behind the front bumper. Once replaced, all is well.

The fan relay is likely shorted and keeping the fan motor energized; to check this you can remove the relays from the fuse panel... remove the cooling fan rely from the underhood PDC (Power Distribution Center). Fot this and additional fuse details, check this link: wjjeeps.com/fuses.htm

Hope helps.

Cooling fan keeps running after turning the car off.

You can unplug the fan so it doesnt run the battery dead. Typically what happens with these vehicles is that a failing radiator fan burns out the solid state fan relay, this can also cause the relay to short and supply continuous voltage to the fan assembly. The relay is located below the passenger headlamp but you will need to remove the front bumper to access it.

Radiator fan constantly runs even when ignition is off. It continues until it drains the battery.

Under the hood should be a fuse box with a relay marked for the fan. Remove the relay and see if the fan stops running. It's possible that the relay latched and is stuck. There should be another relay in the panel that is the same as the fan relay. Try swapping them. If the fan continues to run, there could be a short underneath the fuse box (Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep were known for their fuse boxes corroding and shorting), or it's a possibility that the engine computer is telling the fan to run even when off indicating a bad computer. I would lean toward the fuse box however.

Fan still runs when key is out

It is a cooling fan,I assume? The problem is a coolant fan relay,if the relay is unplugged, the fan will stop, that is the relay to replace.

My 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo radiator fan started running continuously. The only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery or remove the fuse. Any ideas what might cause this problem? Tom

There's a thermostatic switch that kicks the fan on and off. It is apparently shorted, causing the fan to run continuously. Check with your local auto parts store -- you be able to replace the switch without having to replace the entire fan assembly. In the meantime, pulling the fuse is a lot better than disconnecting the battery. You won't lose computer memory, clock, stereo memory, etc.

2003 jeep grand cherokee radiator fan doesn't turn on

Disconnect the fan plug and hot wire it to the battery if the fan dosen't run, replace it. Otherwise, check the relay. The system operates by the temp sender sending a signal to the computer that activates the relay that turns the fan on. Fan should also come on with A/C.

Electric radiator fan will not shut off

Have you checked the fan relay to make sure it hasn't burned internally and is now stuck on?
