It is my daughters car she advise that the AA man advised that the over heating was due to the oil pipe that runs thru the radiator leaking this caused oil to enter the radiator water and contaiminated water stoped cooling the engine. He did a temp fix by draining the water and putting detergent thru the radiator to clean out the oil. This enabled them to drive the 200Km back to London. Engine runs OK but she wAS TO TO SEE HER MECHANIC TO GET LEAK FIXED. mECHANIC NOW SAYS THAT HE IS UNSURE IF IT IS WORTH FIXING as he cannot be sure that oil has not permently damaged engine. This is despite it cuuently appearing to run.perfectly. This is a good car and she cnnot afford a new hence she wants to get it fixed if there is a reasonable chance that it will run ok.

Surely you mean a water leak from the radiator??
it is a simple fix,but pricey for parts,if its the radiator,
ask for a pressure test before any work to ascertain exact leak area.

as its the oil cooler leaking, all you need is a replacement radiator,

which comes with an oil cooler inbuilt.do not worry about oil in the cooling system,it will do no harm once flushed through....(it will do NO damage whetever....)

Yes. I have a website you can go to, to avoid costly headgasket repairs. Look uo heal a seal. I've heard great things. It cost around $100 and is well worth the shot especially when a head job runs around $1500. Let me know if you need anything else.

What happened was my toyota sentra manual car ost power while going up hill and radiator fluid was leaking out badly from lower engine why i think maybe due to worn out clutch or possible head gasket

If the engine overheated with the loss of coolant then expect a warped head. Make sure the radiator hoses have no leaks, cracks or feel spongy. Leaking freeze plugs will cause coolant leaks on the lower part of the engine too. A worn clutch has no effect on the cooling system. Excessive engine wear has possibly happened since the coolant loss. Oil can over heat and cause bearings to fail. It would be a good idea to have the engine checked out to see what the level of internal wear actually is.

I have a 89 pontiac firebird Trans Am "GTA" 5.7L tuned port injected. My engine gets hot somehow and my car has a quick start but lower power afterward. What could the problem be?

Fix the radiator cooling problems. You will damage the engine if you keep running the car in an overheated condition.

1. Replace the thermostat in the cooling system
2. Replace the water pump
3. Flush the cooling system thoroughly and re-fill with the correct coolant. Bleed any air out of the system otherwise you will have problems with air blockages and thus poor coolant flow.

You probably do not know how to do any of this so take it to a reputable workshop or cooling specialist to have it done.

My vehicle is losing coolant with no signs of any leaks

Have you pressure-tested the cooling system? Has the engine been overheated? If there are no signs of external leaks, you may have an internal leak. You may have a cracked cylinder head or a blown head gasket. Check the engine oil on the dipstick- is it pure oil or does it have bubbles of moisture on it? Does it smell like coolant? The ticking may be a result of little lubrication of the engine oil due to the presence of coolant. It would also cause your power issue.

I have a 99 Chrysler Cirrus with a V6 2.5L. I have steam comming out from under the hood on the passenger side front of the car. Any suggestions?

Hello sounds like you have overheated your engine or cooling system hose or radiator is leaking let your engine completely cool down open radiator cap and refill you engine coolant close it up and restart and watch for your leaking point this could be a rad cap.radiator hose or the radiator tank and at this point you can access the problem and feel if you can attempt to repair or not.Or you can let the car completely cool down top up cool;ant in radiator and take the car into a garage.

Car overheated sounds like it want to start but it wont

You could be in big trouble if the engine turns over slowly when trying to start when engine is cold (not warmed up). Check the charge in your battery and connections to make sure they are clean. If they are ok and it still turns over slowly and does not start you may have major engine repairs due.

Transmission wont shift from first untill over 3000 rpm

One often omitted and forgotten fact: Your transmission is cooled by the radiator. During an overheat condition radiator temp increases, causing overheating of trans fluid. I would drain and re-fill transmission (also check to see if converter has a drain plug...some do) and blow out trans cooler lines to ensure there is no blockage inside radiator/trans cooling portion. Use a good quality trans conditioner (I use Lucas, but there are others out there that probably work as well) along with new oil. If trans oil has overheated and formed any gummy deposits, this can prevent valve body from working correctly. This is your best chance to restore operation. If it dosent work, and you do not have any control wires disconnected anywhere, you likely will need a rebuild!
good luck

Engine is over heating and blowing air into coolant resivor and boiling coolant

The blowing of air into the coolant resevour is caused by a leaking head gasket. What's happening is the cylinder is blowing air into the cooling system causing this to happen.
