it is stilll not clear . i know airbag . i know airbag electronic module. but i dont know what is airbag igniter ?

Airbag igniter is the same thing like a gun bullet percussion cap, and is placed inside airbag module, see picture no.2 !

If you have some errors memored inside airbag electronic control unit, tell me about, and I will assist you to fix them!

it says driver side igniter n95 short to earth

    are you there

Then you must repair the driver's front airbag igniter connection plug, because there is a bad contact with the new airbag module socket. After driver's airbag deployment, the supply cable connection plug of the igniter was burned on the pins contact area. Therefore if the igniter resistance is too low, results this error: driver side igniter n95 short to earth. Replace the bad igniter supply cable plug with a new (or in good condition) one, and reset the airbag control module by erasing error(s) memored. I had had this problem in the past and solved successful both driver's and passenger's front airbags. I soldered (tinned) the wires of the car supply cable, on the replaced igniter plug.

can airbag module be faulty for this fault? because we have cchecked all wires continuity from module till airbag . all is ok .

    TDISLine Jun 09, 2010

Yes, can airbag module be faulty, but I don't think so.

Even you find continuity on all wires, the problem is cable plug, (see no.4 picture: the violet plug with yellow safety circlip)! This plug have in circuit a small resistance near pins area, which is damaged. Therefore this error appears: driver side igniter n95 short to earth. That means electrical resistance too low. I had checked also all wires continuity before plug replacing, but everything was OK. Only after replacing igniter plug, the airbag circuit was OK.

small coil is inside yellow connector whice connects to airbag. that coil had come off so i had again winded with hand and put it back. what do you suggest? more over i have skoda octavia 1.9 tdi deisel car.

    OK, Skoda Octavia 1.9 tdi.

I suggest you to repair the yellow connector which connects to airbag, if this is possible. But small coil inside yellow connector which connects to airbag must be correct put in back, and have good contacts inside! If you can not repair it, then replace it with another one in good condition or new piece. After this reparation the airbag control unit must obligatory reseted by erasing all errors memored, using a diagnostic scantool connected to the data link connector of the car! Let do it.

Airbag fault light staying on octavia 4 years old

check under drivers seat for a yellow plug with ignition off unclip the plug and make sure the contacts are clean put plug back together again check to see if light goes out, if it doesn't slide back the rubber boot between the drivers door and the car body could be a broken wire from the airbag door sensor (usually a brown wire and a yellow wire if i remember correctly) if broken solder back together and insulate, (you could try for the door wire first probably easier)

My Skoda Octavia '97 lighter don't work.

The lighter socket has a separate fuse. I'm not really sure where the cockpit fuse panel is located in your model (didn't have myself), but I'm sure it should be documented in the owners manual.
Later models had the fuse panel at the left dashboard side which is accessible from the opened drivers door. (UK: possibly mirrored) I can imagine the early octavia still has the fuse panel under the dash either at drivers or passenger side. This was usual for a long time.
