I have a similar issue and got under the engine last night.
I discovered the serpentine belt flutters and makes a loud noise (like dieseling) when the car is in drive but not moving/under drive load. (stops if car is shifted into neutral/park) I know my motor mounts are worn, sagging and don't know if I need to replace just the belt or the mounts also.

What is making this 08 caliber 2.0L sxt cvt have a High pitched whining sound at idle and driving?

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one

Where is the power window relay located on a 1964 Pontiac GTo with AC.

I believe those older cars used circuit breakers, not relays, for the power window systems. By using a test light, you don't know if battery voltage is present at the window switch. Maybe the voltage is reduced, somehow.
I would first check the switch's power with a voltmeter. If the motor is getting battery voltage, I would say the motor. If the voltage is low,
you had better find a wiring diagram, Dave, to trace it out.

Hi, I have a 94 Pajero Nj 2.8TD with a 4M40 engine, and when the engine is revving over 2000, be it in gear or out of gear, there is a tap tap scraping noise which increases in speed with the engine. I...

check if it has a timing chain as it indicates that the chain is hitting on the timing cover ( replace it and the guides if it has) If the front of the engine is all metal then it will be a chain
It could be faulty injectors squirting and not atomizing but that noise is a knock and generally go with higher revs

I have a 2001 trans am WS6 with 25,000 origiinal miles. I have a light whyning noise when car is warm. Changed transmission oil and gear oil. Noise still an issue. Could it be a power steering pump bearing...

If you believe that one of the "tins"(alternator, power steering, water pump etc) is defective use a stethoscope and place it on each item as the vehicle is ideling . The item that produces the noise is the culprit.

The other item that could make this noise is the oil pump inside of the torque converter. To test this place vehicle in all gears including park and neutral . If the noise is present in all gears regardless of speed its the pump.

Find put where the hissing noise is coming from, you have a vacuum leak. Fix that , and everything else will be fixed. After you fix it, disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the computer and fuel trims.
