It is running ruff

did you disconnect the battery when you changed the starter? are there any codes stored? like james stated if it was starter related it would have happened right after but I also can't think of a starter causing any problems beyond not starting. if no codes I would check plugs, could be bad gas, and make sure all connectors are plugged in from when the car was worked on , something might have came loose or possibly broke.

Check out the preheater for the choke circuit. It closes the choke to give a rich mixture at cold start.

OUCH! sounds like by reversing the polarity the "good Samaritan" blew out your ECM. Unless you can replace it yourself you might want to call a place that will tow it for free to fix it

If you know what the codes are referring to , you then go to the parts and check them out. Obviously you have an ignition coil issue - replace the coil for one thing.

HAD CORE PACK REPLACED IN JUNE 09. EVERY SINCE CAR

Maybe the fuel pump is going out have the fuel pressure checked. Or you have a defective coil pack. You should have taken it back to who ever put the coil pack on, right away when you first started having trouble.

replace the coil pack... to confirm this pull spark plug leads off the coil pack one at a time.... note whether the idle changes. the spark will actually arc and you can hear it. if one of the plugs does not have this arcing... the coil pack is at fault.

Please take a moment to rate this solution.. thanks

First thing you can do to eliminate a possible cause is trade the coil packs between 1&4, and 2&3. Check again and if 1&4 are now dead, then you replace the bad coil pack.

You stated that the plugs were wet, but didn't say from what. What did the plugs smell like? Oil, fuel, or coolant?

Please let me know what was on those plugs, as there could be other causes as well.

Truck missing at above 45 mph

Hello lendor9 and thank you for choosing fixya.com

I suggest making sure the cap and rotor (if distributed) are good. If it has a coil pack and modular, have the coil pack(s) tested - when taking the coil pack(s) off - look at the top of the modular, and look for damage such as bubbles, like it has been boiling - black or white residue - if any of this exit, replace the modular. Also replace any coilpack(s) as needed. Be sure that the wiring harness for the modular is screwed in and secure. Have a diagnostics test done on the car to determine any codes that will reveal THE, or any other problems. You may need to replace the O2 sensor(s), as well as the air and fuel filter.

I hope this information is useful in getting your truck running smoothly again. Thank you again for choosing fixya.com
