This could be a lot of things, check the fuse for the cooling fans, then check the coolant level, and if there is air in the cooling system this will happen, and of course the coolant sensor could be at fault, and the cooling fan relay.

No, the fans have separate relays. You have to use the wiring diagram to sort it out. The pcm turns on the cooling fan relay with a ground signal on a purple/black wire when the temp sensor signal rises too high.

Check the fan relay. The fans will only come on at a certain engine temp.

there are four nuts that are behind the fan and it just gets wiggled off gently once you get the shroud out of the way here is a link to a diagram http://www.nissanpartszone.com/components/1997-nissan-pathfinder_water-pump-cooling-fan-thermostat-210-1274.html

Where is the cooling fan control switch on the 1997 olds aurora V-8?

There isn't one. The computer uses the engine coolant temperature sensor for both fuel delivery data and fan activation. If you turn on the A/C or pull the coolant temp sensor connector off while the engine is running, the fan(s) should come on. If not, you may have a bad relay or fan motor.
