Crank sensor low voltage

I ran a scan but it shows that the crank sensor is getting low voltage what would cause that ans what should i do

Resistance in the connectors between sensor or igniton module corosion ,loose connector or wire ,posibly the sesor or ign module itself requires further testing

Can either of these codes cause my 1999 Oldsmobile bravada SUV to over heat: P0442 ornP1361 or P0117??


code p 0442 refers to EVAP system so that is unlikely
check the fan operation and if you have a viscous fan hub ( fan clutch ) replace it
if you have electric fans , check coolant temperature sensor for operation , fuses , relay and fans
overheating is from low coolant levels , head gaskets/cracked heads, blocked radiator cores , fins flaking off core tubes, incorrect timing, blocked exhaust( cat converter)problem thermostat, over loading /over speeding, overdrive not engaging
if you over heating is predominately at lights , slow moving traffic or high engine rpms with low speed --check the fan operation and if it is viscous fan hub driven --replace the hub or if electric fans have that circuit checked out

1995 dodge ram 1500 318 motor it wont get fire where is the logic module located


Under hood,passenger side mounted on the firewall,but ...
Could be something else ,crank sensor or cam,or ign.rotor ect.
The module like 3 hundred bucks.Try this ,turn the key
on-off-on-off-on( without out hitting the starter) the check
engine light should begin to flash.
Here is a code list,may narrow down the problem.
Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions and service hints. Fault Code DRB Display Code Description. Service hints. 11 No Crank reference signal at PCM No Distributor reference signal detected during engine cranking. Check the circuit between the distributor and PCM. 12 Battery Disconnect Direct Battery input to PCM disconnected within last 50 ignition key-on cycles. Normal if battery has been disconnected, otherwise check battery power and ground connections. 13** No change in MAP from start to run No difference seen between the engine MAP reading and the barometric (atmospheric) pressure reading at startup. Indicates a problem with the MAP sensor vacuum system. 14** MAP sensor voltage too low or too high MAP sensor voltage output is outside the acceptable range. 15** No Vehicle speed sensor signal No signal received from the vehicle speed sensor during road load operation. 17* Engine is cold too long Engine temperature too high or too low while traveling. Check coolant level, radiator cap, temperature sensor, and thermostat. 21** O2S Stays at center O2S shorted to voltage O2 sensor does not detect rich or lean condition, or O2 sensor input voltage too high. What causes ignition modules to go bad in 1991 delta 88


Generally the cause of an electrical component to fail is high heat or extreme voltage load.
Is the coil pack and module getting too hot from the heat of the engine ?
Is it shorting out because of oil or wet surfaces ?
Could you be loosing voltage to the module from the key switch ?
Are you loosing ground signals from the computer ?

I have a dodge caravan, started up fine, ran 5 seconds then dies. Go to restart, no crank. Came back a few hours later. Started up just fine, 5 seconds later dies. No crank again. Code P1193 is the only...


Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P1193 is a manufacturer specific code (not listed in SAE J2012 as a standard generic fault code). Dodge lists the code definition as "Inlet AIr Temperature (IAT) Sensor Voltage High"
This code can have an affect on how your engine runs because the engine controller uses input from this sensor to adjust fuel and timing controls.

However, the symptoms you are describing do not sound like something that an IAT sensor would cause. It sounds more like your immobilizer is shutting things down (security system "thinks" somebody is trying to steal the vehicle)

I would recommend scanning your Body Control Module (BCM) and checking for active codes for your security/imobilizer system. It would probably also be wise to scan the REST of your computer network (ABS, IPC, etc.) to check for any fault codes there or network communications faults.

Ran an ecu fault code reader on my focus and it shows up beromatric low presure what is this ?


Hi there,

If you are correct with your code reader, this condition should trigger fault code: P0107.

This relates to your MAP/BARO Sensor's signal voltage is too low (below 0.25v).

This condition will cause all sorts of engine running issues....

First, using your scan tool with the Key on and engine running, monitor the MAP Sensor voltage. If it is reading less than 5 volts, turn engine off, unplug the MAP sensor and, using a DVOM (Digital Volt/Ohm Meter) check for 5Volts on the 5 Volt reference circuit.


1. If there is not 5 Volts on the reference circuit, then check for the reference voltage at the PCM connector. If it is present at the PCM connector but not the MAP connector, repair the open in the wiring loom between the PCM and MAP harness connector.


If 5 Volt reference is NOT present at the PCM connector, check powers and grounds of PCM and repair/replace as needed.


2. If you have a 5 Volt reference at the MAP connector, jumper the 5 volt reference circuit to the signal circuit. Now check the MAP voltage on the scan tool. It should be 4.5 to 5 Volts. If it is, replace MAP sensor. If not, repair open/short in the signal circuit wiring and re-check.


3. If all appears okay, perform a wiggle test. Start engine and manipulate the harness, connector and tap on the MAP sensor. Note any changes in voltage or engine speed. Repair connector, harness, or sensor as needed.


4. If the wiggle test checks out, use a vacuum pump (or just use your lungs) to draw a vacuum on the MAP sensor vacuum port. As you add vacuum the voltage should decrease. With no vacuum, the MAP sensor should read approximately 4.5 volts. If there is no change in MAP sensor reading on the scan tool, replace MAP sensor.

Your crank sensor is bad. That is also what causes a no start like you are experiencing. The crank sensor takes the place of a distributor and tells the computer what position the engine or crank is at so it knows where to send the spark. You are going to need to have the crank sensor replaced.

it is possable/likely a bad ECTS (engine coolant tep. sensor), this can cause the injectors to allow to much fuel into cylinders and cause a low compression and or flooding situation, good luck, marty

DTC - 22 Throttle position sensor error (signal low), is tps connected?
DTC - 23 Intake air temp sensor error (low temp indicated) check and make sure the sensor is connected
DTC - 43 Knock sensor error, ignore this for now, will not cause rich run.
DTC - 53 System voltage too high, check reference voltage from PCM, it should be around 4.5 Volts, this could be the cause of all your problems, the computer will need to replaced almost for sure.
