Those long bolts, (two of them) are what must be removed to get the calipers off, the bolts use what is called a allen head socket, the size is 10mm, u can buy just this one socket from any auto parts store for about $4

How do you replace the front and rear brakes in a 2003 pontiac Grand Prix

Removal & Installation Front To Remove:
  1. Inspect the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Remove fluid from the reservoir until the level is lower then half way between the MAX and MIN levels.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Install 2 wheel nuts to secure the rotor on the hub.
  4. Remove the bottom brake caliper pin bolt.
  5. Pivot the brake caliper body upward and secure out of the way. Do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.
  6. Compress the piston back into the bore using a C-clamp. Figure of brake assembly with caliper raised showing brake pads in mounting bracket gmpc_l4.gif

remove the caliper, by removing the two holding bolts, then use a old brake pad against the pistons and a c clamp and push piston all the way in, next is to clean and lube pad mounting surface and the caliper slide pin, then install new pads on bracket then caliper and tighten caliper bolts, heres a diagram to help you,98c6b31.jpg150490f.jpg

How do i get the calapers off the rear of a 2006 grand caravane?

Using a C clamp depress the claiper. There a spot right in the middle to do this. Now the fun part hope you have metic hex key set. The 2 caliper guide pins are on the back inside the boots. Which need to be in great condition. Using the metic hex keys some are 7mm or 8mm turn to your right to remove. Rmove the caliper mounting bracket bolts. Fun part #2 removing the disc rotor. Theres parking brake pads or a durm brake system on the inside of the rotor. If the rotor does not slide off. You must remove the rubber gromet on the back of the backing plate. Using a screwdriver or the old brake adjuster tool turn the star wheel to adjust the parking brake in to remove the disc rotor. All brake guides on the calipers & guide pins need to have high temperture brake grease applyed to them. Buy the big bottle for $10 for the front brakes & future use it comes with a bush. Note ** Remove a guide pin take to auto store buy socket to reinstall guide pin/bolt. Why Caliper guide pins 26lbs torque. Caliper mounting bolts 125lb torque

What do i need to remove to put new brake pads on a 2005 pontiac grand am.

Start by jacking up the car and use a jackstand or something to keep it securely up in the air. Don't just rely on a jack. Remove the tire. You should see a large chunk of cast iron on the rotor, this is your caliper. There will be two bolts on the back side of the rotor that hold it on the spindle. Remove those two bolts, they may be metric or allen head bolts. Not sure which. With those two bolts out the caliper pulls off. Don't hang the caliper by the brake hose. It can cause damage. Take the pads off and put the new ones in. They just slide in. If it's too tight and won't fit back on the rotor you'll need to push the piston back into the caliper. You can do this with a big channel lock pliers, or put the old pads back in, put the rotor back in it's normal position, and pry the piston back with a big flat screwdriver. Then put the new pads back in and put it together in the same way it came out.

Brake problems 95 jeep

You may have a broken bolt. Once I saw a broken brake caliper bolt and when the brakes were applied the caliper shifted up and ground into the rim just like your seeing...just take the wheel off and investigate its not that hard.

DONT KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE BREAK CALIBER

To remove the caliper, you need a torx head tool (can't remember exact size) to remove the two slide pin bolts.(inside the two small rubber boots at each end of caliper) After getting them loose, remove the brake hose, then remove bolts and caliper. (don't loose the two copper washers...if they aren't in the new caliper box you will need them.) Check and see if the caliper retracts easily after it is removed. If it does, the rubber brake hose may have internally failed and is your problem. If piston is very hard to move, get a new caliper. Replace both side brake pads, not just side you are workingon. (recommend both calipers as well but most times it works fine with one.
When replacing, make sure slides are free in calipers and thread pins by hand so that you don't cross thread them. After it's back together bleed front brakes and before moving car step on brake to re-set pistons.
