Question about 1995 Chevrolet K1500

1 Answer

1995 Chevrolet K1500 Z71 350 4x4. I have a check engine code 43 and have replaced: fuel filter, fuel pump and screen inside the tank, egr valve, plugs, wires, distributor cap+rotor, pick up coil that's on the distributor shaft, the esc module that's under the distributor cap, and still have code 43. there is but 3 things left to replace that i haven't yet. the coil, the MAF, and another electronic module next to the MAF module. I got the feeling that I could replace the whole engine and still have a code 43. Can someone offer me some good advice on what i can do to get rid of this code?

As much money as you have spent, you could have fixed it and had a lot of beer money left. First thing to check is the KNOCK SENSOR. should be located near the starter.

Fuel pressure problems. If I remove the fuel cap truck runs normal. I've replace just about everything. And still have problems with it.

The only thing you are doing by leaving the gas cap off is providing an extra vent to the tank.
If that really helps the problem I would take another look at the vapor canister system. There may be a line plugged or a valve not opening.
Normally that would set a code in the computer.

If your vehicle has one, and I think it does, check your EGR system. If the egr valve is full of carbon, it can be partially open, creating a vacuum leak. If the egr valve solenoid is bad, it could be opening the valve at the wrong time, also creating a vacuum leak. Unplug the egr vacuum hose, plug the open end of the hose and start it and see what it does. A picture of the egr is below.
