Hi the first thing you need to do is get the bonnet open and have a listen where the click is coming from get some one else to turn the key then listen if the noise is coming from the gearbox or bottom of engine then this indicates your starter motor selenoid is sticking and if this is the case the starter will need replacing.

to get it started you can hit the starter with hammer a few times and see if this will allow it to fire up if not then the starter is no good and will need replacing.

if your is manual gear box then you can put the car in second gear get some one to push the car and let clutch up to turn engine slightly then try starting with the key, doing this sometimes get the starter working but dont rely on this method as it will stop working any time.

now if the clicking noise is coming from the fuse box then this would suggest you had immobiliser problem and if this is the case then you need to get in touch with main dealer and ask them to reset your imobiliser.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

This problem is caused by burned battery connection contacts inside the starter motor solenoid (part of the starter), the click is the solenoid pluger being pulled back to make a battery connection to turn the starter, in your case that connection is never made due to burned away contacts. this is the most common problem with all modern light weight "mini" starters.

Make sure battery is fully charged. Check all battery cable connections. Make sure they are tight and free of corrosion.

My 1993 Buick Park Avenue just Clicks once when you turn the key on starter won't engage the battery is fine

Sounds like a bad starter or a bad battery cable connection to me. If you are certain that tyour battery is in good condition and fully charged, your battery cables are clean and tight and are making good connection on BOTH ends, replace the starter.

My 2005 caravan won't start. When I turn the key I hear a clicking sound but it doesn't start. It worked fine earliar today. The battery is fine for now.

Possible causes are: 1. Loose or corroded battery cables. 2. Bad starter 3. Dead battery. Try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone is holding the key in the start position. If it starts then replace the starter. Thanks

When I turn the key I get a rapid clicking sound as if the starter is turning but not engaging the engine to turn it over. What could it be? The car has been starting fine but the battery may need to be...

Jump start it from another battery, if it starts then your battery is bad. If it still makes the same sound
without starting then your starter needs to be replaced.

Will not start, was running fine no sign of any issue and than stopped parked 15min engine off and than returned with no battery. My keys made a different noise and the car ignition makes a strange...

Have the battery checked out, it can drain within minutes and it really is gone if you have dead cells that can't recharge. It will make your car click when trying to start or it could turn over slow or not make any sound. Good Luck.

Van sometimes will not turnover when you turn the key, just makes a clicking sound. You can try it a couple of times and it will start fine. Had battery checked and it's ok. Maybe starter is going out?

This is typical of a starter going bad. It is caused by the main start relay going bad. The contacts are burned and have lots of carbon buildup on them.

89 jeep cherokee pioner won't start !!!

Normally temp increases a bit right after shut-down Unless overheating I would not be concerned about temp yet. If you can turn the engine by hand (only try with key off) and starter is good, check battery connections at both ends of cables (at starter, block and battery.) Check that battery has 12v. Check small wire on starter (solenoid trigger wire) it should have 12v with key turned to start position. That's enough to do for now,,,if you haven't resolved this, post again.

Depends on the sound that it makes when you turn the key over.

Clicking noise...usually the starter

If it sounds like its going to start, but doesnt, most likely the battery.

If you have replaced the battery recently, then its the alternator.

Sometimes there can be oil build up over the spark plugs so it doesnt get the spark to start.

Hope you get it fixed!!
