Question about 1996 Pontiac Grand Am
Hi this is the Enhanced Traction System ( ETS )it is an all-speed engine based traction control system used by General Motors Corporation in many of their models. In some models, the driver has the option to disable this system by pushing a button marked "ETS". The system uses sensors to monitor wheelspin and reduces engine speed, upshifts or retards ignition timing to improve traction, have a look and see if there is a button , all you have to do then is press it and it will go off....hope this helps

SOURCE: ETS sensor out
It stands for Enhanced Traction System.
On your gearshift is a button that when depressed will either turn on, or turn off the traction system. To make it go away, just press the button.
Hope this helps
