When I checked my oil it was under the hole closest to the tip does this mean I need oil? and how do I know it's full/ how many quarts of oil does my car take? 2005 civic si 2.0

Start by adding 1/2 quart. Recheck the level. If it is now half way between the two marks than add the rest of the quart. The oil level should always be in between the two marks on the dipstick and close to the top mark.

Hi. This particular engine will accept 5w- 30 or 5w - 20(synthetic blend).

The total capacity level(including the filter) will be 3 1/2 Quarts. Do not fill above this amount.

How many quarts does a 2003 civic lx neeD?

Tricky question actually...
In the US, it is 4.7 Quarts, including the oil filter.

Outside of the US, the "imperial quart" is larger than a US quart. Your Japanese car uses 3.9 imperial quarts ....

5 Quarts is the answer you are looking for....

4.6 quarts of oil

This is not normal. Why not add more oil to ensure it gets to the second dot to avoid error reporting or engine knock.

Goos luck.
