I think the pump was going out and it just happened to finish up when you put the belt on. The two should be unrelated.

Have a 2007 ford focus station wagon SE, makes a squealing noise by the pulleys and belt. When running still makes noise and when you turn on A/C the steering get really hard to maneuver.

Hey!
That look you problems with pulleys,holding the serpentine belt
Get oils spray into it,than you can see.Make the prove one at the time.
Start the motor and see squishing noisy goes away
Even do it in the AC motor pulley
Note:Do not forget change the serpentine belt

My Echo makes a squealing noise randomly when driving & airconditioner is turned off?

Your serpentine belts tension is loose or the belt is going hard. Check the tension on the tensioner pulley and condition of belt.
The belt is slipping on your accessory pulleys when a load is placed on them such as power steering, alternator and clutch fan.

I lost power steering on a 2007 Equinox after changing the serpentine belt. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you have the belt installed correctly? Not hard to make a mistake. Did you get any oil or fluid on the belt? Did you change belt tensioner at same time? Usually a good idea.

Truck squeaks at start-up and goes away after 2 seconds...at times when I'm driving it will squeak and the voltage meter drops below 14 while squeaking. get off the gas and it stops and everything goes...

Your serpentine belt tensioner may be bad,not holding enough tensioner and not letting your alternator keep a charge on your battery,get some one to sit in your vehicle,open hood,have them start it while you watch the belts turn and have them rev the engine up to see if the belt turns loosely.another thing to look at is the A.C.compressor locking up .Power steering pump could be locking up,just check it out while it's running and see.

Power steering problem

Sounds like the pump pressure valve is not working when cold and should be replaced.> It is inside the pump where the pressure line connects to the pump.

Every time I turn on the air or heat when the car is running My power steering iseffected and a loud screech? But not when the car not running (blower motor works) I think it is the ac condencer?

you need to replace the serpentine belt and perhaps the belt tensioner. When a heavy load is put on the belt, like turning on the AC, the drag may stop the belt from turning. This would stop the power steering pump from turning causing a hard steer condition. The belt is not gripping the pulleys tight enough. This is due to a worn out serpentine belt or worn out tensioner. If the AC works( cools the car) then replace the belt. If this does not cure the problem then replace the belt tensioner as well.

Serpentine belt has some cracks

any cracked belt should be replaced. the timing belt drives the cam shaft while the serpentine drives the power steering pump, alternator, water pump, air conditioner compressor, etc. if it breaks in the middle of nowhere, car will get hot real fast and become very hard to steer as you try and find somewhere to pull over. it will also be in the night and adverse weather. so replace it now when it is convenient.

How do I change the serpentine belt on a 1998 Buick LeSabre, 3.8

My friend;
Try this;
  1. Check the belt pulley may have attaching tension bolts (Nuts), etc.
  2. Loose the belt pulley attaching tension bolts (Nuts), etc.
  3. Normally there are three bolts & or nuts u need to loose to allow u swivel the pulley side way.
  4. Once loose, swivel the pulley side way.
  5. Mostly, you don't have to remove the bolts & or nuts completely.
  6. You may need to remove other serpentine belt to reach the power steering belt.
  7. Removing those other belts work same as the power steering belts or other belts.

Serpentine belt

The power steering and power brakes are connected to an extent. They both pull their power from the same place (basically) I would check to make sure that you have enough fluid in both first. Then check to make sure you dont have air in any of the steering fluid lines.
