I have a 99 ford svt lightning, it starts and idles but dies if you give it any throttle. I soaked a towel in gas to get it home

you should do a fuel pump pressure test it might be the problem, loss of fuel pressure will cause this to happen without notice

Fuel puressre is weak

sounds like fords MAF or mass airflow sensor causing engine surge. do you have any codes from the check engine light. 24-36 lbs of fuel should be fine!

PO171 and PO174 on Ford lightning

with all the stuff you have done you have not done this. cleaned out the intake and idler. cleaned out the low intake line on the intake. also any changes to ecu codes mean that every thing has to be in working order as the ecu changes it codes to suit engine maintenance. then over time it settles down. all updates to use code should be done on clean engine.

2000 Ford F 150 Lightning. 5.4 supercharged. Keep

code p0171 refers to system too lean bank 1===causes --intake/ exhaust leak. AIR system---MAF?VAF sensor--fuel pressure/pump--injectors. HO2S
code po174 refers to system too lean bank 2===causes -intake/exhaust leak--fuel pressure /pump--injectors--AIR system---hose connection/s. You have ruled out the fuel pressure and pump so eliminate that from the causes. You have checked the o2 sensors so they can be ruled out. The MAF has been checked so rule that out. You are left with the AIR sensor and VAF sensor. and last the intake/ exhaust leaks. Check the gaskets on the exhaust manifold and the bolts are tight. Check for cracks in the manifold underneath. Check the cat converter for correct operation as that will affect the O2 sensor readings. Lastly if you have replaced any sensors with non genuine items they may be affecting the cpu checking processes and affecting the engine settings for economy. Ford and GMC have a mixture of OB2 and their OEM computer readings so you may have to talk with a ford service department to get that answer for 21

Is the inertia switch supposed to bm pressed in or depressed.

You will have no issues with the Inertia Fuel
Shutoff Switch (IFS) They are only on Ford Products

So why are you here?

What is your question?

You have no fuel pressure at the fuel rail?

Have you cycled the key while someone
puts an object to the fuel tank & listened for
the pump to come on?

Ford foucus 1.6 petrol engine

i think its underneath the hood on the passenger side twards the firewall it just unclips from the fuel rail..if its not there look underneath the car by the gastank or along the fuel line be sure to be careful because the fuel lines are pressurized..what ur supposed to technicall do is remove the fuel pump fuse and then try to start the car or start it until it dies to relieve all the pressure in th lines..you dont have to go through all that if u just be careful good luck
