Question about 2004 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

It takes 2 or 3 tries for the car to start; there's a strong gas smell and there's a drip coming from under the car on the left back passenger side. I think it may be a hole in the fuel line or a faulty fuel pressure regulator. How much does it cost to fix each thing? It's a 2004 Chevy Impala. It only has 62,000 miles on it. I'm bringing it to the dealership today to have them look at it, but want to know what I'm looking at for cost of repair so I can find out if they're trying to screw with me or not.

There's a rubber hose like a radiator hose from the gas tank to where you fill your tank (the fill pipe) and a clamp on each end. Sometimes they do loosen up from vibration and bouncing up and down on bumpy roads.

Gas leaking front passenger side of ford windstar

Have you looked under the hood? (I don't mean to sound like a wise guy.) There are two shiney metal pipes one on the front of the engine and one on the rear as you look at it from the front. They run from right to left on the engine. These are the fuel racks that feed the fuel injectors, (assuming that you have a 3 litre or larger v6 engine). These can concievably rust at the left, (passenger), end and blow gasoline out the passenger side. It is also possible that gas could be leaking anywhere on the engine and roll off the passenger side of the engine or if the fuel line on the driver's side has rusted over a cross member of the frame and possibly roll to the passenger side. Also, there is pretty good pressure on the fuel line when it is running. If there is a rust hole on the right side of the line itself, it could spray to the passenger side, hit something and drip off from there. These are just possibilities. Good luck. Jeff M.

Coolant leaking somewhere unknown, have to add to reservoir every 3 days or so, strong antifreeze smell with a/c on. water sloshing sound in passenger side dashboard. bad heater core?

sound like a bad heater core! the heater core is like a small radiator that is usually locaded in the dashboard on the passenger side. now if the leaking is really bad you are going to see water dripping by the front passenger tire or if it gets really bad it may leak inside the car. in order to fix this problem the HEATER CORE must be replaced. good luck

I have a 94 grand prix se 3.1. When i first start it ir smells like gas. It goes away and then comes back at red lights..... I cant find any leaks... Any ideas?

It may be the fuel pressure regulator located on the fuel rail on top of the motor it leaches out a very small amount of gas when they start to go inspect it if it looks even a little bit wet replace it, if this is not wet then the gas cap may not be venting properly replace it.

2005 chrysler sebring sedan water on inside of car

There is a rubber hose sticking out of the firewall on the lower passenger side, under the hood. With the A/C running you should see water dripping out of it, or if you let the car run for a few minutes notice a puddle on the ground. If you don't see water, the hose is probably plugged. Sometimes squeezing it a few times will work the crud inside it loose and water should start coming out. Same deal for the back. You'll have to crawl under the vehicle and look where the A/C lines go into the vehicle(it will be on the left or right side in the rear). There should be another rubber drain hose there. Hope this helps...

Car has a skunk like smell and AC question

Listen people...it isn't a skunk! My elantra smells like a skunk too and I am sure I didn't hit one. I think that it might be my battery; since battery acid and skunk smell are chemically the same. This is what I am checking next.
