Either the switch, the relay you pulled or the circuit itself is shorted. To test the switch. Remove it from its connectors and see if the flashers come on. If so its the culprit.

The Emergency Flashers are controlled by signals from the Body Control Module not a 1980s round flasher unit.

you need a mobile auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to see where the issue is. They with look for Diagnostic Trouble 'P' Codes and also Diagnostic 'U' Codes.

Harzards flash turn signals dont

Hazards have a different flasher than the turn signals.
Make sure both front and rear turn signal bulbs are good. If one is burned out, that side might flash funny or not at all. If bulbs are good, then it could be the flasher.
Usually the turn signal flasher is a small module about an inch or two in size, and located near the fuses or it might be under the dash near the steering column hanging by a couple of wires. Pull it out, bring to a car parts place to get a replacement, and plug it back in.

Turn signals do not work

Under the dashboard should be a fuse panel and some turn signal flashers.
All of these are likely under the dash near the driver's knees.
Check the fuses first. (Probably not that), then try the turn signal flasher.
If your 4-way flasher is working, turn it on and take a flashlight and look up under the dash.
This will not be easy.
If you can locate the 4-way flasher by the clicking sound it is making, the turn signal flasher should be really near it.
They are often side-by-side.
If you will take it out, I hope a new one will fix it.
Be blessed.

My turn signals won't come on at all?

check the fuse if good then turn on the hazard lights if they work then you probably need a turn signal flasher which is a separate flasher unit then the hazard one.it usually looks like the hazard one so with the hazards on and locate it then you will know what the signal flasher looks like and you will also know not to change the wrong flasher unit.the signal flasher is often located at or near the under dash fuse panel or somewhere in the dash you don`t say what type of car your talking about.

Hi, replace the flasher. It's below the instrument panel, left of the steering column. Looks like the picture below.

How to change the signal flasher

Models from 98 on use a combination flasher. This flasher is mounted either on the front or on the back of the junction block.
The combination flasher is a smart relay that functions as both the turn signal system and the hazard warning system flasher. It is designed to handle factory-fitted equipment. If aftermarket equipment is added to this circuit (such as trailers with lights), the flasher will automatically try to compensate to keep the flashing rate the same.
  1. The flasher contains sophisticated internal circuitry that cannot be tested with conventional equipment. Substituting a new unit for a suspected defective version is the easiest test.
  2. On air bag-e quipped vehicles, disconnect the battery negative cable(s) and wait two minutes from the air bag capacitor to discharge.
  3. Remove the junction block cover. If the flasher is accessible, grasp and pull the flasher from the fuse panel.
  4. If the flasher is not mounted on the outside of the junction block, remove the steering column cover from the instrument panel. Reach through the opening to access the fuse block on the back of junction block. Pull off the flasher.
  5. Inspect the socket for corrosion or any other signs of a bad contact.
To install:
  1. Install a new flasher in the connector.
  2. Install the fuse panel cover.

No turn signals or hazards

there could be two things wrong here.
1 the flasher unit is defective and needs replacment i think that indicator and hazzard are on the same flasher unit.
2 a fuse has blown and needs repacement or it has a bad conneciton
both should be in the fuse compartment.

Renault laguna 1.9tdi dynamique 51 reg. hazard warning lights do not work, changed fuse still not working. whats wrong with them

If your turn signals work, then replace the flasher for your hazards. Turn your key on then give a left turn signal. Listen for the "clicking" sound near your brake pedal and accelerator. Once you locate your turn signal flasher (small, "cylinderical", device) the hazard flasher should be near it. Simply pull out the flasher and replace... just plugs in.
