It will cause a slight gas mileage difference, not much. The smell of gas is the problem, if it can't hold in the emissions then it's like riding behind a older car with that strong gas smell. It will eventually give you a check engine light which is not a worry, this is because the converter can't do it's job, so then the O2 sensors will not function correctly. They do make a universal replacement and should be installed at a local muffler shop. If money is a issue, then I would drive the car like it is, it will not hurt or cause the car to stall. The only thing to worry about is one getting stopped up causing back pressure to the engine.

If I cut the Cat converter off my 2004 trail blazer well it still run

Yes it will still run. But running w/o a cat is illegal. And you will fail any emissions test. Also you will lose gas mileage. Hope this helps, James Booth

I believe I ran out of gas - I emptied a gas can I had in the garage - car will not start. What if gas was old? What can I do know - probably has 3 gls of stale gas in it. Tks.

well it sounds to me like a emgency shut off like for eg.. i have a 2002 explorer and i ran out of gas and mine did the same thing as yours no start. on mine there is a little button you have to push down on the passenger side it is the fuel pump emg shut off i is for when you run out your pump does not fry it,s self. so read your manual or ask the chev dealer if you have sutch a thing on your blazer. give it a shot , good luck!

1991 chevy s-10 bazer sucks to much gas and into the exhaust

I had a similar problem with gas smell and bad gas mileage. The problem was: a gasket that goes around the carburetor covering the jets had worn out allowing gas to pour out and burn off the hot engine. The gasket cost less than $1 to replace. When properly mounted, the gasket stopped the gas leak, which stopped the gas smell meriting an exponential improvement with my gas mileage.

2002 chevy blazer fuel consumption

Usually when it comes to bad gas mileage, an air filter change, fresh oil and filter, fuel filter and making sure you have no vacuum leaks....

Also, believe it or not, improper tire pressure will affect your gas mileage.

New spark plugs and wires are a "nicety" but if there is not damage to them, then they will be fine.

Catalytic converter

i replaced my cat with a high flow cat and flowmaster 40 series exhaust about 4 years ago now. good set up on my 2.2L 4cyl 5spd. sounds excellent. the only problem, since it is a high flow cat and free flowing exhaust, there is little if any back pressure, and so i really dont have that much torque anymore. it actually made my truck slower on the bottom end. not that the 2.2L is a speed demon. lol. you could probably get away with a test pipe that is still the same size as the stock pipe and it will sound gread. as far as gas mileage, i doubt it will do anything to help. my exhaust didnt help my gas mileage any. the only thing ive noticed that got me more mileage is replacing the stock air filter with a drop in K&N filter. i got about 5 more miles a gallon just by doing that. good luck.
