Question about Chevrolet Lumina APV

1 Answer

I hooked up the battery and a series of honking noices sounded. I believe this to be the security feature which is making the van not start. I have a 1995 Lumina Van. When the key is turned, there is no clicking noices or any indication of starting. All the power options work.

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

Well, if you look on the passenger side and you open the door, look on the side of the dashboard. there is a fuse box there. fuse #39 is the one you should check... i have had mine blow and your car will not start without it.

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day

Try taking it out of park and putting it back or try in neutral. To see if it is the park switch. Make sure any security features are shut off. Make sure key fob batteries are good. Hope this helps.

I can't turn off the security alarm on my 1998 nissan pathfinder

I couldn't turn off the security alarm on my 1999 Pathfinder as I replaced the battery,
Solution: I read the solution here to disconnect the positive cable, open the driver's door, insert the key, then reconnected the positive cable, while honking, I turn the key to the left, to the right and to the left again while the door is still open. The honking stopped. Then I started the truck without a problem. Thank you for the hint.

Horn honks every 5 minutes or so

sounds like lock button on key fob is stuck or there maybe radio interference around vehicle making it do that? did it just start doing it? if so maybe a neighbor just hooked up wireless internet? take battery out of key fob and see if it still does it,if still does, talk to neighbors and see if any one installed a new wireless router?also you can find out what mega hertz your system is running get a scanner and program numbers and see if there is any interference!!!Also when you take out battery out of key fob try soaking fob in rubbing alcohol and then let throughly dry then reinstall battery(if unit got wet maybe shorting terminals or sticking)try that may haft to reset alarm when you take out battery of fob!!!! :) Hope This Helps!!!!

Engine start problems

the problem could be the starter, battery, battery cables, or alternator. the clicking could most likely be the starter going bad if not bad already or the battery weak or bad battery cables, if you have good power to everything else radio headlamps and heater the i would start by replacing starterlet me know what you find.
