i put it on my code reader to find out the fault as there was no visable damage to wiring ect. the fault codes found were p1290 and p1292 being thermostat open circuit and ect sensonr high input. changed the 4pin sensor on the thermostat which most parts people know as the ect sensor. erased the codes and they came back a little while later. upon live data test dash dials were reading 90 and diagnostic tool reading 105 on ect sensor. not an expert on vw's just need to know what sensor i am getting a reading of 105 degrees from as i think that will most likely be the problem

They need to be reset after the problem sensor or part is replaced.if you dont the lights will stay on even of the problem is fixed. as a mechanic i cant tell you how many times people chase down these fault codes and buy parts trying to fix them when hooking them up to a code reader for 5 minutes can tell the whole story. i use it on my own cars. there is no point in guessing and spending alot of money chasing your tail.

The parts aren't really that expensive, it's the labor these places charge an hour. Call around and see who can do it the cheapest, unless you want to do it your self.
