Question about 2004 Audi TT

Intermitent Oil light

Is there anyone out there that can help with the most frustrating problem I have incurred with a car ever?!!! The oil light on my Audi TT Quattro has begun coming on when the car is being driven yet goes off once the car is in idle. I have spent the past 3 months replacing the sump, the oil twice, the filter twice, the pick up pipe, the oil pump and the oil sensor. I have had the ECU checked and all is OK, I have had an oil pressure test carried out and all is OK in idle but does drop when driven. The engine has been flushed out, the bottom end stripped down and examined for any obvious defects and the light still comes on. The car drives as sweet as a nut, there are no rattles or worrying noises but despite the car being in at Audi they cannot throw light on what the fault may be. Has anyone experienced this problem? I have only had the car 3 months and now thinking of getting shut of it as its parked up in a garage as I am reluctant to drive it in case there is something worryingly wrong. If anyone can help I will gladly buy you a crate or ten of beer!!!!!!

yellow plastic, with a metal band in centre.acts as level indicator...

if low pressure was seal/bearing leak,it would be worse when at idle....pretty obvious.

Oil lights normally mean you need Oil, If the light is on and the oil is full, then it must be a bad sensor, unless it is related to oil pressure.

If the oil light is related to oil pressure, then you may have a bad crank seal or summin. Does the car leak oil? If so thats probrably where the problem is.

Loud ticking noise in 2004 Buick century

The ticking is probably a damaged lifter, hard to say exactly without hearing it. If you hired a qualified automotive shop to do your oil change and they didn't put enough oil in your vehicle they would have some liability. Your paper work should state the amount of oil put in the engine. Cross reference that with your manual

Anyone know the engine oil capacity for a 97 2.8 turbo diesel shogun thanks

Hi, your engine oil capacity for your 2.8 is 7.8 litres of oil including new filter, when you have done this start car and wait until oil light go's out this will indicate that the oil filter is full with oil, turn off engine and check oil level on dipstick again.
hope this helps you.

Low idle

Check your oil level, your level could be to low for the oil pump to pick up properly. The other reason could be in need of an oil change or your oil pressure sensor is gone bad. Your oil pressure come's from your crank shaft bearing and not form you oil pump. Good luck and hope this help

Check engine light and oil light comes on

First thing is make sure you have oil in the car. The oil light works off of a switch mounted on the side of the oil pan. It could be a bad connection at the connector on the switch. I have owned 6 Fox body mustangs and the only completely trouble free oil filter is the FL1A. i have had 1 out of 5 Fram oil filters set off the engine light. One of my cars is a 500 hp notchback '92 model and I use the FL1A in that car also.
