This particular year and next one , were the worst years for trany's on those cars.
They are failing left and right , there are no options to
get it cheap , sience junk yards refuse to sell used units , cause they coming back under 90 day warranty before warranty expires , and nobody rebuild them , when I was looking for one , for my customer ,
the only option was to buy it from dealer.
It was not cheap , so I ended up converting the car to a stick shift (junk yards sell the whole kit with pedals , brackets etc...). Customer was happy , he didn't really care what to drive stick shift or automatic. At least he won't have problem with a/t in the future , he said.

Transmission problem solutions

I bought a perfectly good car years ago that the Mechanics said the transmission was gone, it turned out that it had no transmission fluid. I bought the car and found that the problems were gone after adding fluid. Check this first.

If in fact you do need a transmission, then you can find the specs on your car located by the windshield, on the upper part of your dash. There is a metal tag with the "Vin" information on it. Your local auto parts dealer can give you the Transmission size using this code.

Thank you for contacting Fixya. Does this help? Let us know.

How do I find the radio security code for a 2004 VW Golf? Lost during battery change.

From your local dealer as it is linked to the cars vin. It was a stereo anti theft deterrent for the blaupunkt stereos in the Volkswagons.

I need the code off my volkswagon golf radio as car only bought and dont no code

There is only 2 options.

1. Your radio code is in your paperwork for your car (Its on a hard plastic card) Find it.

2. Take your registration to Vin and Ser Number for your radio to your local dealer.

These codes are a guarded secret and no one code fits all.

Hope this tip helps guide you in the correct direction to solve this problem.

2005 MKV Golf cannot go into reverse on its tiptronic gearbox

Find a VW mechanic, those cars are known to have weak automatic and manual transmissions. You probably need a new one. Don't cheap out and buy a used one or you'll be sorry when it doesn't last. A quality rebuilt trans should have at least a 1 year warranty.
