You can power the system from anywhere. For example, if you have a 12 volt gelcell, you could reverse plug it into the cigarette lighter. You don't need a big car batter is you are not going to run the start or headlights.

Unable to access battery to recharge it because central locking system inoperable due to flat battery

hello there
you could try to get two male connector charging cable. They sell it at the dealer or on ebay.
And charge the Porsche trough your cigarette lighter socket. For that you could use battery jumper as well.
Then you can open the trunk to get to the battery.

1999 porsche boxster central locking system stopped working. Cannot unlock hood nor trunk. Is there a manula way to open them, easy fix for the central locking system?

That happened to me one time. In the owners manual there are instructions on how to enter via the fuse box by sending a pulse throw the locking system with a hanger believe it or not.

You may have a bad sensor. Is the top up or down? Are you using a red clip (http://www.myboxster.com/mods/red_clip/)?

I have a 1997 boxster and the central locking does not work, the doors all lock with the button on the dash, but the key fob wont work and if you lock it with the key it only locks the drivers door?

I connected a cigarette lighter (male on both sides) between my car and another car. Do not start the car, just wait until the battery has a little charge. The front bonnet should open allowing you to replace the battery. You will need to recode the radio (http://www.a2dvoices.com/realitycheck/porsche/ )

Alternative: Some newer boxsters have a red power post new the fuse box.

1997 Porsche Carrera S --- Central Locking System Battery went dead while on travel and now the key fob for central locking is kaput! Is there a sequence to re-sync the fob to controller?

Hi,

Maybe you can try this procedure to resyn your key.
Initialization Procedure.

1. Open central locking system using the car key.
2. Get into the car and close all doors.
3. Using the car key, switch the ignition lock briefly to position "1" and then switch off again. (Please do this switching within 5 seconds or otherwise the system is not ready for initialization.
4. At the remote control key. Press the "OPEN" key (->) and keep holding.
5. When holding the "OPEN" key, press the "LOCK" button three time.
6. After pressing the "LOCK" button 3 times, release the "OPEN" button.
7. If the initialization process is sucessful, the door will lock and unlock immediately to confirm the process.
