Okay...here ya go:

Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
  3. Locate the thermostat housing by following the upper radiator hose to the engine.
  4. Loosen the hose clamps then carefully detach the hose from the fitting.
If the hose is stuck, carefully use a pick to break the seal between the radiator hose and the housing. If the hose is deteriorated, replace it with a new one.
  1. Disconnect any sensors or switches that may interfere with the removal of the thermostat from the housing.

  1. Unfasten the retainers, then remove the thermostat housing.
Some coolant may leak out of the housing as the seal is broken.
  1. Remove the thermostat carefully noting how it's installed.
  2. Clean the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing.
Many thermostat housing's are made out of aluminum alloy. A plastic scraper is very effective and will not harm such metals. To install:

  1. Install the new thermostat and gasket.
Install the thermostat with the jiggle pin facing up. This acts as an air bleed and must be at the top of the thermostat to operate properly.
  1. Install the thermostat housing, then tighten the bolts securely.
  2. Connect the radiator hose and tighten the hose clamps securely.
  3. Install any remaining components, then refill the cooling system.
  4. Start and run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature while checking for leaks.

This was helpful, I had to remove the battery, and after the housing was off I had to literally pull the old thermostat out with channel lock pilers. Start to finish too 2 hours working at a slow pace

hello, it sounds like you car may have a thermostat problem, one way to find out if you do put the heat at maximum in the car, the engines heat will be distributed inside the car, if you engine temps go down its probably it, the thermostat is the valve who controls the flow of coolant in the engine

2000 acura 3.5 rl collant temperature sensor

If the question on the 2000 acura is where to find the sensor, you have to take the silver acura plate off (3 screws) and it sits on top next to the big radiator hose. Easy to get to, should cost around $40. But if your temperature gauge on the dash is not moving it's probably the thermostat.

2000 Acura TL overheating at low speeds with A/C on

Before ordering or installing fans I would buy and change your Coolant Temperature Senor on top of the engine block. It plugs in to the ECU and tells the fan when to kick the fans on. If that does not work you also have a temperature on the bottom of the radiator, known as your fan switch.

Cooling fan for acura tl 2000 does not work

If you can locate the temperature switch, looks like a large bolt head with 2 wires on it, bridge the wires on it, and this should make the fan work. If the fan works then this switch is faulty. If the fan doesn't then it could be the fuse, or a broken wire.
The fan switch is either on the radiator or on the thermostat housing.
If you can get to it easy, short across with a screwdriver.
