A/C Switch not working

Just got into my car, turned it on, and switched the fan speed over to 4 (to get the A/C going) and nothing happened. Looks like the A/C is still working, but the fan is broke? Any idea?

Did you use the correct fan switch for that car? Some other models only offered a 4 speed, and the switch looks the same.
I would take the new switch out and compare it to the old one to make sure it is exactly the same (compare the physical features, and the mfg. markings. If it doesn't match exactly, take the new part back, along with your old one and ask for the correct switch.

Blower fan not working.

Possible speed control is open circuit or the fan motor. Check you have supply to the switch/motor.

If you mean the fan switch is not turning anything, you'll have to replace the blower switch in the dash. If the switch turns but nothing happens, you'll have to check the resistor and fan relay for power.

The problem is the blower motor speed control resistor, it is located near the blower motor in the housing. I exchanged mine and it works like a charm now.

Low fan speeds go thru the ignition switch - only the high speed is directly connected to the fan motor. ?so to fix that dilemma you need a new ignition switch. Could also be the source of your other issues.

Blower works sometimes, sometimes it wont. Moving the blower fan switch has no effect. Suddenly, it will work with all fan speeds. Then it quits working again. Nothing.....no vent, A/C, Heat,...

Sounds like the switch,I have had the same happen. Won't work on 1or2 but 3-4 worked fine. The next day 1-2 worked....? With out a meter to check it will be guess work.

Most likely the resistors are stuffed.
Top speed the electricity goes straight to the fan motor.
The other settings go via a resistor to slow the speed, hence the 3 speeds. So the resistor feed is main suspect

Climate control switch does not work in lower modes only in high.

The pontiacs have an issue with the ignition switch, I have a 2001 grand prix that did the same. The ac fan would only work on 5 and the headlights would go off if on 1-4 replace the switch and all is fine.

Vent fan only works when set to 4

Hi.....
On your Vehicle the problem for the FAN speed is NOT the FAN switch.
99.9 % of this problem on cars is the BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR.
The blower motor resistor give the speed to the Fan.
But on High speed the switch make a By pass of the switch using a Relay for the high speed.
The Blower motor resistor, is located Beside of the Blower motor On the passanger compartment.

If you replace the blower motor resistor you have 99.9% of this will solve your problem.

I'm a Mechanic.

I hope this help on your problem.
Thank you for use fixya...
