I TUNED UP MY 87 LESABRE 2.8L REPLACED PLUGS AND WIRES, IT STILL WOULD STALL AT STOPS, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON IT WOULD BUCK AN CUT OFF ONCE THE CAR WARMED UP IT WOULD RUN WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I FOUND AN OLD RECEIPT IN THE GLOVE BOX WHERE THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD CLEANED THE IAC VALVE AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM. TRIED THAT WITH NO CHANGE, mY FRIEND TOLD HE THOUGHT IT WAS A THROTTLE POSITION SENSIOR, BOUGHT A NEW ONE PROBLEM STILL THERE, MY FRIEND DID NOT KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE TPS. WENT TO ANOTHER FRIEND WHO SAID THE PROBLEM WAS THE IAC VALVE. REPLACED THE IAC NOW CAR WILL NOT STAY RUNNING AT ALL, DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT MY CAR IS STUCK AT WORK.

I would replace one of the three coils and if that improves performance replace the other two. They only cost around 15 dollars each.

When it comes to electrical troubleshooting replacing is all you can do. You can take it to a shop with the proper equipment and they can narrow down the problem but they charge for that.

Hmm

try turning the ignition on,, let it sit for 30 seconds ,, switch it off and then start ,,,

if it works then your fuel pump is sending too low pressure,, change the pump...

if not then change the IAC valve and the oxygen sensor and the engine coolant temperature sensor..

I HAVE REPLACED THE IAC AND EVER SINCE THE PROBLEM IS WORSE IT WONT STAY RUNNING. I AM CURIOUS ABOUT YOUR TEMPERATURE SENSOR THEORY, A FEW MONTHS AGO MY RADIATOR WAS LEAKING AND THE CAR IOVERHEATED SEVERAL TIMES, COULD THIS HAVE FRIED THE COOLANT TEMP SENSOR, I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE RADIATOR.

Actually overheating would rupture the cylimder head gasket.. And damage the engine block.. Remove the radiator cap and keep tunbling the engine.. If bubble and water spurs out well u got a broken engine block and that's why u are having problems.. Bot the o2 and coolant temp sensor manage air fuel ratio.. If one malfunctios you will have these issues.. Seeing as you just mentioned the overheating I am leaning to a fractured block.. U need a mwchanic to dismantle and check this..

Ok here we go again 2000 buick lesabre . driving down road service engine light comes shortly after car stops dead. wait a few minutes usually starts back up light might go out get home fine. everyone is...

What you need to do is have the code checked for the service engine soon light. This will help in diagnosing what could be causing the vehicle to stop dead.By this I am assuming you mean it will stall.Auto Zone and some other parts stores will check the code for you for free. But the diagnosing will still need to be done to see what is causing the light to come on and make the car stall.Sometimes you may need a scan tool and a multi meter to help find the problem.Which means you may have to go to a repair shop.Hope this has helped you.Good luck.

Whens the last time it was tuned up? plugs, wires, cap and rotor,(if you have them), Air filter and fuel fliter. Any one and all of these can cause your problem.

When i first start my 95 lesabre it run really rough until its warm after its warm it idles real nice but if i give it too much throttle too fast it cuts out and loses power especially up hills.i just hadf...

Sounds like the throttle body is sticking. Do not use WD40 to free it. Use some Carb cleaner on it and then oil it with some synthetic 5w30 engine oil. You may also have to clean the MAF and MAP sensors if this is fuel injected. I had a 2000 Buick Lesabre and the glue came off letting in water when driven in the rain. It would cut out till the heat from the engine dried out the water and then it would work again.

Have 2000 Buick Lesabre custom every time car gets up to operating temp. the engine misses going down the road , also let car sit and idle and it shuts off after about 2 minutes , my code reads PO171 system to lean bank 1, changed co2 censor, mass air flow censor, plug wires, and plugs.

white smoke tells me engine coolant is mixing with the combustion chamber. you have leaking head gaskets

3.4L engine stall at stops

do u have a check engine light coming on? if not the plugs are not the problem a miss will trigger a check engine/service engine soon light, most likely you have a dirty automatic idle speed control motor.

Check engine light and intermittent bucking

You might get lucky here. Go out and open the hood and start the engine when it's dark. See if you can see sparks jumping around the spark plug wires. That will tell you for sure. Otherwise, my first choice would be to put on new plug wires of the highest quality you can find. I've seen this type of problem before, and it can be made worse if the boots on the wires are not clean or too much grease was used at the factory. The solution was to clean everything and replace the wires and spark plugs because carbon tracks have been created that can't be easily (if at all) cleaned from the spark plug insulators. The coil towers will probably be okay if you clean them well.
