U have a leaking head gasket, there is no doubt in my mind, u don't have to have any bubbles, the coolant leaks into the cylinder cold then the head gasket seals hot, have seen this condition dozens of times and argued with more than one customer over the fact the head gasket was the problem, pulled engine down and resealed and guess what problem goes away, very very common complaint. Polo 1.4 petrol 2007 poor ideling at cold starting

Sounds like you have a misfire before the car is heated up properly. Because it runs well after warmed up, I'm thinking that your fuel system, and compression are good. The only other thing that could cause a misfire is an ignition problem. Most likely you have a spark plug that is fouled and does not work well or at all when the engine is cold, but when it warms up to the proper temp it self-cleans and begins to function again.

Another possibility is bad fuel that does not atomize easily when the engine is cold. I would change whatever hasn't been changed in awhile. Spark plugs or fuel.

Hard to start the engine

Starting problem can be due to many reasons. Go through the following chart to troubleshoot the problem:
No initial combustion (Engine does not start)
1. ECM power source circuit.
2. Crankshaft position sensor.
3. Camshaft position sensor.
4. Ignition system.
5. Fuel pump control circuit.
6. ECM.
7. VC output circuit
Difficult to start with cold engine
1. Ignition system.
2. Spark plug.
3. Fuel pump control circuit.
4. Fuel Injectors.
5. Cylinder compression.
Difficult to start with warm engine
1. Fuel Injectors.
2. Ignition system.
3. Spark plug.
4. Fuel pump control circuit.

2001 Pontiac Montana - what is a misfire #5?

Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.

Check ur battery, check the engine radiator hose and the condition of radiator, and always check the water. if the problem is still there check the igniter plug if there's carbon presence around, if u found its burned, its better to change. do this troubleshooting first. it will do to trace the proble. k good am

Low Heat on 1999 Mercury Cougar

I had the same problem with my 199 cougar 2.0 4 cyl.
The problem was air in the cooling system.

I had to bleed the air out of the system, and now the heat
works much better.

I put a flushing tee between the back of the thermostat and
the heater core, and made sure that water flowed out of there.
Then I disconnected the small hose from the top of the coolant
resevoir, and poured water into it using a funnel until the coolant
level started to rise in the coolant resevoir. Then started the car, left the radiator cap off, and let it come up to temperature (thermostat open)
then over a period of about 5 minutes, periodically "goosed" the engine to clear any remaining air bubbles.

The heat is MUCH better now.
